Yes, it looks like I’ve got an earlier gearlever. It does the job, though!

Another question after having spent some more time on the Landy:-

There are two inline fuse holders that I can see — one behind the 'centre console' and the other behind the main gauge cluster. These do not appear to be shown on the circuit diagram in the workshop manual — does anyone know what the correct fuse rating is for these?

They are probably for accessories, does it have a radio of fog lights. First thing is to take the fuse out an see what stops, that will give you a guide. Radio 3A, fogs 10A or 20A. Main supplies will be 30A but that would cover quite a few things on one circuit.

No radio and only a 'rear guard' fog lamp.

The inline fuse holder behind the 'auxiliary instrument panel' is connected to the brake warning relay and the wire is black with a white tracer. The fuse that was in there was 3A and blown before I purchased the vehicle. I understand the brake warning light should come on when I turn the ignition and go off once the car has started but does not.

Brake warning light? I don't have one of them.

Those in line fuse holders are add on items I recon. Is your auxiliary panel the type set at an angle in the dash ?

Does it not light at all, or just not turn off when the engine starts? I assume the former, if you've not yet replaced the fuse.

I have the brake warning light ,the top rectangular light, it came on when bleeding brakes once being switched from the PDWA switch
It may have also come on with ignition but not for years

Yes re the auxiliary panel, exactly like the one in steve2286w's pic above.

I'll try to get a picture of the wiring arrangement on the weekend.

Doesn't come on at all. I think I will put in a standard 17.5 amp fuse for a one-off test and let you know the outcome!

MY 77 does not have one of those angled panel but a mates 79 model does.

They’re handy, and available , I added a 12v connector for sat nav now powers an fm transmitter which also has usb supply , red rocker switch for front fogs and the interior work light near back window that can swivel round for when reversing , I should investigate the brake warning light see if it still works

The attached drawing is not for your vehicle but has the brake warning lamp setup and hazard switch included .
You could check what colours physically relate to the drawing.

Looks like there should not be an inline fuse in the brake warning circuit so this was probably an addition by a previous owner.

Completely off topic but can anyone tell me how the rear silencer hanger mounts to the chassis outrigger (RHD SWB)? I am referring to the assembly pictured below:-



The one that came on the vehicle was a bodge so recently purchased the correct hanger from John Craddock.

Look carefully at the pic you have put up. The item in the middle with the spots on it is a strip of flexible material sandwiched between at the top the bracket on the chassis and a metal plate and at the bottom the exhaust bracket and a metal plate. Its like conveyor belt. Recon should come with it.
