    300 tdi hub removal

I have a rumble on a rear wheel bearing and I removed the wheel, halfsahft, brake caliper and the two 52mm hub nuts and spacer but the hub won't come off like it says in the Hayes Manual, do I need a hub puller or have I missed something?

Nearly 200,000 mile on my 93 Disco and only thing that has let me down without warning in the last few years was a clutch failure back in January, it had lasted 4 years since I changed it before.

    Gear Selector Adjustment

The two symptoms are related and can be cured by adjustment ususally, you will need a copy of the manual as it is a complex mechanism. Should be about £12-£15 for a genuine LR CD .

    Spurious Advice Request

If you are fitting polyurethane bushes then definitley do not fit then to the panhard rod. Rear door lock lubrication - remove the green oval badge in the door handle and apply lubrication to the pivots and spring mechanism - these are the bits that sieze up.

    Swivel housing fluid change?

I don't think the swivels actually changed, it was just the lubrication in them that was changed. Drain plugs and Filler plugs should still be there as far as I know.

    tool & recovery storage

Colin, I would have thought that chequer plate may have been a bit slippy for the dogs if they are jumping in and out. I know our dog doesn't like jumping on or off slippy surfaces in the cargo section and if you cover the top with rubber or carpet, it won't be apparent to the local villains.

    electrical mystery

One (or some) of the fusible links in the right hand side of the engine compartment to the rear of the battery has a dry joint. These links connect the battery to the fusebox. They are covered in braiding, cut this back and you will see the fusible links, resolder the joints and all should be...

    Chopped front!

It's just the lower skirt and the end caps that are cut down, they are easy to cut as they are just plastic. There is a natural line to cut to in the moulding but it is worth drawing on a line that is easier to follow before starting to chop. John

    transfer box

Anti clockwise to undo it, and it is the right plug you are trying, they have a tapered thread on them so don't overtighten when you put it back. (I suspect you might have guessed the last bit). John
