Freelander 1.8 K series hgf - more data

I haven't read through everything on the HGF issue but do have an issue with dropped liners, which nowadays isn't the death knell for the engine as there is a shim that can be installed to return the liner height to its original position. Still quite a bit of work, but it can be undertaken with...

    Freelander 1 Camshaft Position Sensor 1.8 (2005)

Anyone replaced their camshaft sensor (NSC100932) as this part is no longer available with the lead attached, so it's a separate sensor and separate wiring loom which plug together. However looking at most of the sensors available the connection is on the top of the sensor rather than at right...

    Freelander 1 1.8 K Timing Belt

Agree with Nodge68, I didn't replaced the water pump and within a month it started to leak (probably as the new belt would be tighter than the old one), so had to repeat most of the process for replacing the belt, just to get to the water pump including unloading/reloading the belt including the...

    Freelander 1 Hawkeye

Does this just relate to the fob (door/alarm locking etc). or also to the transponder (located in the key not the fob)? If so do you have any instructions as to how to access it in Hawkeye.

    Freelander 1 Hawkeye

Hi, With Hawkeye, can I see what fobs/key chips are held in the system (Freelander 1, 1.8 2005)? Have been reluctant to go into that part of the Hawkeye system for fear of wiping out what is currently there and there appears to be little literature on how to use this specific area of Hawkeye...

    Freelander 1 Immobiliser Chip

2005 1.8. How does the immobiliser system work? I know there is an unpowered chip/block within the top part of the ignition key, and this reacts with something in the steering column electrics to tell the system that key/chip is present, without which the car turns over but won't start. How...

    Freelander 1 1.8 Head Gasket - query

Has anyone fitted a new head gasket and used a product such as 'Hylomar Blue' (high performance, non-setting gasket and jointing compound) on either an MLS or Elastomer gasket to help seal between the HG and the block & the head itself? Views appreciated.....

    Possible 1.8 head gasket issue.

Isn't the inlet manifold assembly a string of o' rings connected together (LKJ101110L) or where you referring to the thermostat seal PEF10010? Thanks.

    Freelander 1 Open Circuit ?

That's why I'm confused. I assume the fan control unit on 1 1.8 2005 FL1 is the bulky heatsink type unit on the near of the radiator fans (this has been replaced and the same error code is present). As both fans appear to work as designed, then can't see/understand the Fan 1 Control circuit...

    Freelander 1 Open Circuit ?

Next issue identified as error code P0480 Fan 1 Control Circuit - open circuit. OK so, what is an open circuit, is it a bad earth, if so where is Fan 1 control circuit earthed? If it's not a bad earth, what can it be? Both fans do work and with Hawkeye, can be turned on & off thru...

    Freelander 1 1.8 Coolant - Question

So the expansion tank has the coolant level half way between min & max. Run engine at tick over for 10 minutes and coolant level rises, up to the welded join in the expansion tank. The by-pass thermostat is hot on the top side, but cold on the bottom, therefore the thermostat not opened...

    Freelander 1 Freelander 1 1.8 Petrol 2005 - Coolant Temp Sensor

Not on the UK facelift 1.8 petrol models (2005). There is no coolant temperature sensor on the inlet manifold (that I recall)..... MEK000030 is the blue coolant temperature sensor (which is actually black nowadays) and a brown coolant temperature sensor (MEK100160) both sensor require the seal...

Or at least say what the differences are and the impact fitting the other one would create if swapped. They both have the same temperature range and the size / thread is supposedly the same

    Freelander 1 Freelander 1 1.8 Petrol 2005 - Coolant Temp Sensor

Thanks for the link. Going with the 'blue' (which is actually now black in colour) as the current one fitted is black, although impossible to say if this hasn't been changed before and whether the original was blue or brown. Not sure what the difference is between the two or why JLR can't tell...

Hi, Does anyone know the correct part number for the coolant temperature sensor for a 1.8 2005 Freelander 1? I'm being quoted MEK100130, MEK100130L, MEK100060, MEK000030L, MEK500130...... They can't all be right??

For the 'bottle neck' side steps they produce two differing length brackets (GST Fabrications Type 2) as the front and rear brackets, besides being different lengths, are also angled a bit differently. The GST Fabrications other Freelander side step brackets (Type 1) . Have a word with Graham...
