2005 1.8. How does the immobiliser system work?
I know there is an unpowered chip/block within the top part of the ignition key, and this reacts with something in the steering column electrics to tell the system that key/chip is present, without which the car turns over but won't start.
How does the chip/block itself communicate with the vehicle and how is it programmed?
Can the chip/block just stop working?
