Disco 2 Auto Gearbox not selecting

Hi, I have removed the gear selector switch and cleaned it out and checked for continuity. All seems fine. The noise is ONLY if I go out of "P" and back in. Does the torque converter have to turn freely? Danny

Disco 2 Auto Gearbox not selecting

Hi Guys, This morning the auto box in my Discovery 2 stopped selecting gears. When I move it from "P" all the way through and back to "P" there is nothing. However, when I put it back into "P" (after going through all the other gears) there is a noise. Not a grinding noise as in gears but...

    Center Diff Lock Question

I can get in underneath and turn it a little (with front prop shaft removed), but it feels VERY little, less than a 1/4 turn as you mentioned. Also it is stiff, so I was just wondering what forces and travel is required before I break something :) Thank You Danny

Hi guys, Just a quick question. I cannot seem to get my Disco 2 TD5 fuel consumption better than 8.0 km/l. The EGR blank-off mod has been done and I drive very carefully. I even follow Land Rover's recommendation to put the automatic gearbox in "N" when stationary at a traffic light or when in...

    Disco 2 transfer case help

Hi, Thank you very much. My transfer case does have the spiggot and 3 bolts shown in your picture. Can I safely assume then that it has the CDL internals? And, will the CDL cable mechanisms offered by Ashcroft and others work on my transfer case. Thank you for your help. Danny

    New to Disco 2

Hi Guys, Just bought a 2003 Disco 2 TD5. I have only had Toyota Hilux's since I can remember so please pardon my ignorance if some of the questions have been asked before. It seems as if mechanical information regarding Disco hardware is a trade secret protected by a regiment of well trained...
