Hi guys,

I have a Disco 2 with a transfer case who's serial number starts with 81D ... can anyone tell me a little more about it please. I want to know it it has the CDL hardware inside or not.

I did stick my hand up from the bottom of the car by the forward propshaft universal joint to try and feel if it has the spigot but I could'nt feel anything. Maybe I was feeling in the wrong place.

Any help or pointers will be appreciated.

Thank You

Danny

left hand has no CDL, right hand does (D1 but makes no difference, just means it's lacking the high/low range sensor).

Hi,

Thank you very much. My transfer case does have the spiggot and 3 bolts shown in your picture.

Can I safely assume then that it has the CDL internals? And, will the CDL cable mechanisms offered by Ashcroft and others work on my transfer case.

Thank you for your help.

Yes and yes.

You can also fit the linkage from a Discovery 1, cheaper option but a bit more complicated. You also have to insure the D1 linkage you get comes from a vehicle with the same transmission as yours (D2 linkage is not transmission specific).

See UP's guides on the subject below:

D2 linkage

D1 linkage

I have the Discovery 1 linkage on my 2000 TD5 manual and it works fine.
