I have seen a kit on ebay for very little money and fancied getting rid of the EGR valve on my facelift Disco 2, i'm sure i have been told that you need to delete the EGR from the ECU however when i looked earlier there is no electronic plug on the EGR so how would the ECU know if it was missing?

My bonnet feels very much like its plastic, now i'm intrigued.... gonna go have a closer look :) yep its ally

TD5 bonnets are plastic arent they? would they take the weight like a steel framed bonnet?

Well ive finally sorted it! sent the crappy brit part plugs back which took 20 seconds to glow, didnt learn my lesson and bought bearmach glow plugs which took 10 seconds to glow, and have now bought some bosch duraterm glow plugs which are red hot in just 2 seconds if you can learn anything...

After replacing the glow plugs unfortunately the problem is still not cured, i tested the new plugs staight across a battery and although they get hot they dont glow, they are cheap brit part items... shall i send them back?

I may need to pop down the breakers yard and snip the bits of wire i require, the truck was only £400 and has done 180,000 miles so i'm not keen to spend a fortune on it.

Its all starting to make sense now.... pulled the glow plugs and all 4 are completely dead, tested them across a good battery and they didnt even get warm. The wiring that goes to each plug disintegrated in my hands so need to replace these, i tried looking on ebay but cant seem to find...

I dont think the washers were genuine, just off ebay i did clean out the injector ports though and blew them out with the air compressor. The guy i bought the truck from did mention that it may have been a blocked drilling in the head?

no i only tried once, tomorrow morning i shall try 2 cycles and see how i get on. Did a few tip runs in the truck earlier (approx 25 miles) went back to the truck 6 hours later and she fired up straight away, i' guarantee when i try in the morning she wont start without hitting the gas pedal

Yesterday i fitted new diesel filter, re-seated the injectors with seals and washers and stuck a new injector loom on it. Unfortunately this morning when starting i'm still no further forward, woiuld the next step perhaps be the rebuild the FPR with new seals etc.? I'm starting to run out of...

Ta mate ill take a look Didn't order genuine, but bearmach. used their stuff on all my old disco's and defender without any problems

Havent quite worked out yet how im going to check the fuel pressure at the FPR but i did have the fuel pump out this evening, disassembled, cleaned and re-assembled, i was genuinely shocked at the amount of black gunge clogging up the internal filters. Took her for a spin and she feel far more...

Tried that trick this morning but unfortunately still showing the same symptoms, turning the key to position 3 (while leaving the accelerator alone) the starter motor turns the engine which then dies as soon as you let go of the key.

Hi all, Recently sold the 90 and bought a 2002 discovery TD5 facelift, the truck was cheap because when first started it sounded like it was misfiring, a quick blip of the throttle and she ran sweet again for the rest of the day. Well as a few days passed the problem seemed to be happening...

OK i have found the problem but just cant believe how stupid i have been, i had the caps on rods 2 and 3 mixed up. Now turns over lovely, will check the clearances with plastiguage tomorrow :-) Thanks for your responses, i always find this site a massive help when i'm in trouble with the landy
