    Starter Motor

Are the starter motors for the TD5s in Defenders the same part as the td5 in discoveries? Thanks for any heads up!

Steering failure for full out excitement

That bolt holds the end of the shaft into place so that the "splines" line up. Male end, into female end. There is a groove near the end of the shaft that the bolt slides by. The entire shaft had popped out and was barely connected with it missing.

Steering failure for full out excitement

Well! It was a bolt at the end of the shaft that keeps the splines engaged... M8 45 mm fix. Anyone ever have that happen? Thanks everyone! Check those bolts! Wow

Thank you for the input everyone. I will dig in some more. It's interesting. Imagine this off-road on a corner. Yeehaa.

Steering failure for full out excitement

Playing with the wheel a bit, key out it started to spin, mostly to the left, but stops when turned to the right. Key in 360 degrees of spinning. Something in the shaft must have went.

Steering failure for full out excitement

I wish! No its on tight enough to engage and does this with everything on. I took it off assuming something was wrong with the splines on the steering wheel. I'd leave this up just to stay humble though if it was that simple, ha!

    AC Condenser

Hello all, I have a Denso model number 10pa17c in my td5 Defender. Unfortunately the condenser did not come with the truck and I would like to track down a compatible unit. I have found the ones that go with a 2005 td5, but they run about 1k US. Does Denso have their own units, if so what...

TD5 engine swap for a reconditioned turner engineered TD5

I would DEFINITELY replace it at this stage since everything is going to be out anyways. What happened with the old engine? Not the dreaded oil bolt was it??? That turner renew is going to be so sweet man, years of life to come.

    A terrible rattle within

Well that gives me pause! Everything seams seems to shift fine in all gears. Finding reverse is a bit finicky but always there and I just assumed that was from being "new". I sent the videos to Ashcroft, I will report back for future reference.

    A terrible rattle within

A week back I got in the D90 and started it up. A terrific rattle came from the transmission/transfer case that I felt through the gear lever. I released the parking break and it went away. Why I thought to do that, I have no idea. A few days ago I was getting off to a overland trip, and...

    R380 gearbox and LT230 bolts

Hello Lads, Has anyone installed the r380 and lt20 separate into a td5 d90? I have found a shop on a military installation that allows retirees to use, that has a lift and a mechanic to help with installation. I was advised to bring them in separated for ease of installation. I have never...

    Clutch issue

Hello Landy world, My d90 will no longer go into gear. If I engage the dif lock, it will go into gear, but will not move when clutch is released and given gas. I was having intermittent flashing of the dif lock driving home from a trip, not sure if that is related or not. I need to pull the...

    Clutch

Anyone have a prefered method of breaking this down? Should I plan on taking the engine out, or do the drop the gearbox method. Either way I will have to buy an engine stand and such. I appreciate this site immensely. Gotten me out of several jams over the years. I have to say, My Landy...

    Clutch

On Monday after returning from a 600 mile trip, the Defender had some issues getting into 1st and reverse. I assumed it was my master and slave finally needing a replacement. The master had a slow leak in the winter, that would stop in the summer. I would top it off here and there and have no...
