Hello Lads,

Has anyone installed the r380 and lt20 separate into a td5 d90? I have found a shop on a military installation that allows retirees to use, that has a lift and a mechanic to help with installation. I was advised to bring them in separated for ease of installation. I have never heard of doing it that way. Any opinions on that?

Thanks

Vincent

I see your post was several days ago, but for what it's worth, if working single handed it is often easier to do them separately. In other words take the transfer box off, take the primary gearbox off, and then on reassembly, primary box on, then transfer box on. You can keep the two together if you have the ability to lift them at once, for example, if you take the floor and seatbox out and put an engine crane in through the door. But even then, the complete unit is a bit heavy for one person - you'll have to manipulate it under the car and then attach it to the crane to lift it into position, so a lot of people take them apart. It's not very many bolts!

they are too heavy to lift independently,so are best fitted as a lump with an engine crane
