I'm trying to replace the lower seals on my old TD5 steering box. I've removed the dust seal and the circlip but I'm having trouble getting the washer out. The washer is free and has come some way down the shaft but I can't seem to get it past the last few mm. Any tricks and tips for this?

The haynes bumper book of fun says to discard the steering wheel retaining nut and fit a new one when refitting the steering wheel. Is this a special nut or are haynes being overly cautious?:confused:

Whilst fitting the replacement steering box today I heard a tell tale sound of something metal falling from the engine bay and hitting the ground... Is this part of my Discovery or is it a piece of random junk that's been living in my engine bay for a while?

Folks, Have any of you replaced a steering box on a TD5 Disco with ACE? Two of the steering box mounting bolts are obscured by the front ACE actuator assembly. Does the actuator need to come off or is there a cunning method of getting it out of the way of the bolts?

What's the difference between these two pistons? ERR2410 is available from most parts places, but no ERR2412...

I greased my propshafts today and I ended up with more grease oozing out from the end of the coupler than went into the shafts. Does anyone have a recommendation for a coupler that doesn't leak too much?

How do I drain the ACE and PAS systems ready to fill with new fluid? I can't see any obvious drain plugs.
