I'm trying to replace the lower seals on my old TD5 steering box.

I've removed the dust seal and the circlip but I'm having trouble getting the washer out.

The washer is free and has come some way down the shaft but I can't seem to get it past the last few mm.

Any tricks and tips for this?

To remove the drop arm - place the PAS on it's side, place a blunt chisel as shown and belt it really hard a couple of times. Turn the box over onto the other side and do the same thing again. After doing this a few times the arm will break free of the shaft - prevented from going any further by the nut. Remove the nut, washer, and arm.

This is part of a very good run down on changing the whole box. PM me an email and I will send it over.

I've drilled two holes in the washer and inserted two screws and jacked it out. Got the second seal out without too much fuss.

Main seal and another thin washer/spacer remaining.

I'm loathed to drill this one as the swarf will end up in the box itself.

Any tips for extracting this one folks?
