    Temperature gauge issues

I disagree! We had a batch or two thermostats from britpart and ECP for various cars that were opening at about 60 degrees On an Audi these throw up the EML light

    Another snapped timing belt!

I find that more and more often britpart/Allmakes belts auxiliary or timing, tend to be too small and a right squeeze to get on

    1.8 litre 2001 petrol

Freelanders aren't as bad as they get rated IF: A. You buy a diesel B. You remove the rear prop shaft C. It's well maintained D. You don't open any windows E. You have your own dealer level diagnostic kit :) But I'd choose a td4 freelander over a p38 any day :)

Lovin the 3.6 RR but some issues to address

Yes there is a risk, by having a split intercooler pipe you run the risk of he turbocharger over spooling which as others will tell you is a pretty penny indeed

    Hi from South Africa

Down by the gearbox is the vacuum reservoir for the VNT turbo, check all the vacuum pipes to and from it, it's the only thing they SHOULD have touched when they did the clutch

I presume yours is a 2A> on the chassis rail on the LH side of the car there are the fuel pipes, unplug the fuel pressure sensor and see if performance resumes if so it would seem you require a low pressure pump p/n WFX000181 :)
