Hi, got a mystery....my td5 starts, drives and stops perfectly, except for when I give it a blast down the motorway.... Sometimes it will just go into limp mode and be as flat as a fart! Turn off and on again and its fine, pulls well etc untill I blast it again.... Had it plugged in and fault came back as turbo overboast????so what is wrong with it? Cheers in advance

The turbo wastegate is sticking or requires adjusting

how long have u had the car? I have just had the same problem with mine and it turned out that the previous owner had adjusted the wastegate too much, I turned it back half a turn and seems to have sorted it.

as said, most obvious is a sticking or misadjusted wastegate rod .. could be faulty wastegate modulator too(only if it's D2, in this case check fuse F2 in engine bay just to rule it out)

Sounds about right - get the heat shield off, disconnect the actuator arm (might be easiest with the actuator casing loosened in its mount too) then work some 3in1 down the shaft of the waste gate swivel. Mine took several tiny back and forth movements to start loosening up, then eventually a nice finger pressure snick from wide open to closed again.....

Second time I've had to do it in 100k - not much of a drag really. Enjoy. A

i have tried pushing the rod which will not move at all!
should i be able to push/pull it easily?

Mine was SUPER stiff would only move with leverage from molegrips. But it did move. I ended up spraying WD40 and plus gas on it once a day for a couple weeks. Loosened up a bit but not much
