    TD4 aircon bearings advice

Cheers for that, Not a priority at the moment anyway, but well worth bearing in mind come spring, especially as I do have a puller which may help. Saying that I should hopefully by then be the proud owner of a 4.0 Jeep Wrangler TJ!!!!! Bye bye freelander.....

What have you done to your Freelander today

Right here's what I've done lately. 2 new front tyres (4 wheel drive doesn't work anymore so don't need to be matched) New front brake discs and pads New Wheel bearing New anti roll bar linkage (had to use angle grinder to remove the old one) New in-tank fuel pump (ended up getting towed home...

    TD4 aircon bearings advice

***BUMP*** Hi all, I've just changed the alternator on my TD4 and when removing the air con pump for access I noticed that there is an awful lot play in the pulley wheel on the air con pump, is this normal??? I know they use an electronic clutch, but even so it seems very excessive. The belts...

    Freelander 1 I'm back again :-( TD4 Alternator question!!!

Thanks for the advice, I bit the bullet in the end and got a new 150amp one from a motor parts store as it would have been very fiddly to rewire it and I needed the car fairly urgently. £157 :( It's running again, for now....

    Freelander 1 I'm back again :-( TD4 Alternator question!!!

**Sigh** The alternator has packed in on my TD4. I had a quick look on the net and there are two types a 115amp and a 150amp. Apparently the 150amp is usually for those fitted with a heated front windscreen, which I don't have. Being a bit rushed I picked up a used 115amp alternator off fleabay...

Freelander 1 Some advice / a quick guide to those changing the in tank fuel pump on a td4

Hi all, There are a few posts on the net about this, but I thought I'd post a few comments myself to hopefully save people a bit of the ball ache I had.... So my 2002 TD4 died on Friday. I diagnosed that the fuel pump in the tank had failed. Please note that not all TD4's have a fuel pump in...

Freelander 1 2002 (pre face lift) TD4 Problems and a strange fuel filter query

Thanks very much, I thought that was the case, and that is the confirmation I was after. They seem to have made some changes to various bits and pieces around my model year which always makes getting the right part a bit tricky. The one in the fuel tank is making a bit of noise, but like I said...

    Which Tyres ?

I ordered some Hankook Dynapro from black circles (online retailer, which sends them to various garages) 195 80 r15. Got them for £65 each inc. fitting. They seem like a good tyre, they look good and have good sidewall protection.

Freelander 1 2002 (pre face lift) TD4 Problems and a strange fuel filter query

Hi All, Sooo the freelander died on me the other day resulting in a tow home. It's done 139K but was running fine up till then, bit of a splutter then died. Couldn't bump start it. It did start for a few seconds after about 5 minutes then died again and nothing. No fault codes according to the...

I have fitted a new battery, and had another look on ebay for a Peugeot 205 GTi, to replace it with ;-)

Help me fix up my freelander!

From my experience of freelanders, I'd stick in the classifieds as spares or repairs. I can't wait to get rid of mine.

    Freelander Faults poll

Freelander TD4 GS 5 door 52 plate Rear diff buggered VCU buggered IRD probably buggered thanks to the other two but still going in 2WD mode. No plugs to change/top up rear diff oil. The whole drivetrain is a triumph in ****e engineering. Heavy on the front tyres, and you have to try and...

    Td4 Auto Battery Choice

Hi All, I've just fitted a new battery this afternoon. I think the standard size is a 096, which is what my old battery was. I noticed that the battery tray was quite a bit wider than the old battery. After reading a previous post and measuring to check I ordered a 110 size battery. It's a much...

Have I cocked up changing the diff mounts??

I honestly cant remember, presently wondering if it might be the VCU?

Have I cocked up changing the diff mounts??

Okay a few pics too. I tried giving the drive shaft a twist and there seems to be no play at all, it's quite stiff. Is this normal?

Have I cocked up changing the diff mounts??

Hi All, Had a clunk on gear changes so I have ordered and replaced all three of the diff mounts. Not too bad a job, I borrowed my dad's ramps and with a bit of muscle slackened off all the bolts. I didn't find the need to use any axle stands, just gently lowered the diff so the drive shafts...

    TD4 MAF Sensor and OBD2

Hi all, had a bit of a problem with the freelander whilst on holiday and towing caravan. Loss of power on bottom and and burning rich. Was hoping it was a loose turbo hose, but it wasn't so gave RAC a call. They plugged their laptop in and diagnosed that there was an error with the MAF sensor...

TD4 Rear Hub Knock and drive shaft woes

Possibly, they're quite cheap and a relatively easy job so I might try a set before I invest in a genuine driveshaft. There did seem like a lot of play in the hub though.....

TD4 Rear Hub Knock and drive shaft woes

Howdy all, My 52 plate TD4 has developed a knock from the rear when accelerating/changing gear so I've had it up to look for the cause..... Jacked the rear wheels up one at a time. N/S seemed okay, a little wear in the CV joints but not to bad. Prop Shaft was rocking when I moved the wheel...
