Hi All,

Had a clunk on gear changes so I have ordered and replaced all three of the diff mounts. Not too bad a job, I borrowed my dad's ramps and with a bit of muscle slackened off all the bolts. I didn't find the need to use any axle stands, just gently lowered the diff so the drive shafts rested on the subframe. Wigggled it about this way and that swapped them out and got them tightened again. (Found my small cheap socket set a benefit here as room is tight)

ANYWAY......

I thought the operation all went to plan, the knock has gone. But alas only to be replaced by a grinding sound that comes in at about 40ish that was of course not there before. Crawled underneath, (naturally Dad has already picked the ramps up) and everything looks okay. Thought I might have put the front bush in the wrong way around but the larger protruding side is facing to the rear and is closest to the diff which I believe is correct. There appears to be some rubbing on the side of the diff housing as if it is coming into contact with the subframe at about 4 o'clock ish as you look from the front to the rear. So maybe it is twisting down under load when driving?? I just don't know?? Does anyone have any ideas. I don't see how the diff could be out of alignment as, there is no way of adjusting it.

***Sigh*** Apart from the engine (BMW TD4) I really hate this thing, I don't suppose by any chance that anyone might just possibly have 130 crew cab which they quickly need rid of and would like to straight swap for it ;););) !!! ***

Cheers in advance, help and comments are always appreciated.

Okay a few pics too. I tried giving the drive shaft a twist and there seems to be no play at all, it's quite stiff. Is this normal?
