P38A 2.5 DSE Air Conditioning Tensioner Refit

Ah yes, that makes sense for longer/shorter belts. I've got a Dayco belt to put back on, so will bear that in mind when I refit and set the tension.

P38A 2.5 DSE Air Conditioning Tensioner Refit

Hi Guys, Out of all of the complex jobs I've tackled so far on my P38, it was always going to be a small job that left me scratching my head!! The air con tensioner bearings have flopped, and when innocently removing the pulley to replace it, I found that there are 2 x identical threaded holes...

    P38A 2.5 Operating Temp

All sorted thanks Gents - everything was fine after all, it was just me being overly cautious :). A number of years ago I suffered a cracked cylinder head, so after that I always find myself looking at the temp gauge nervously haha. Viscous fan working as it should, shredding newspaper nicely...

    P38A 2.5 Operating Temp

Do you mean to give it poke with a rolled up newspaper? :) I've had it off recently while replacing the injection pump....so maybe I've killed it?

    P38A 2.5 Operating Temp

Hi Guys, After all the faff of getting my DSE back on the road after a number of years, she's finally MOT'd and rolling around on Britain's roads once again :). My question for now is relating to the operating temp, and more precisely the time that it takes to get to it's operating temp, as I...

    P38A BECM Perhaps?

Well I definitely don't see any blinking on mine - just a solid state red SRS, so hopefully it will be a simple bulb change to clear the fault. Cheers for pointing out the two bulbs, are they available from any motor factors? Good luck with yours.....I really could do with getting a diagnostic...

    P38A BECM Perhaps?

Hi Marty, I don't have a "tailgate open" warning - however I have recently rebuilt the spring and seal for the tailgate push button, and occasionally the lower tailgate appeared to stick and not open on the press of the button. After a few operations this is now working great, so I wonder if...

    P38A BECM Perhaps?

I'll add that to my list of checks - can't get on it until the morning as I'm stuck at work :( Is the SRS light illuminated by two bulbs? Or is there a secondary fault light I should see? I have the red SRS and Airbag Fault on the digital readout. I hoping to rule this one out as it's a...

    P38A BECM Perhaps?

Thanks for your input gents. Unfortunately i have no diagnostics to hand, and don't know anyone who does, however Ill measure the voltage at the battery to see if all is satisfactory there. The fusebox appeared fine when I checked it - no signs of distortion or burning under any fuses/relays...

    P38A BECM Perhaps?

Hi Guys, Some of you may have seen a couple of my previous posts, whereby I recently changed the diesel injection pump on my 2000 DSE. All is now back together and running great mechanically, however I have now encountered a number of electrical gremlins that weren't present before..... To...

P38 DSE Injection Pump Timing Woes

Good luck with yours mate....the best bit of advice i can give is with regards to the position of the woodruff key! I've got a few more bits left to assemble on mìne, but only really the fan and the inlet manifold so im certainly glad it starts!! :)

P38 DSE Injection Pump Timing Woes

Thanks for all of your input guys, its been a great help! Its been an eventful weekend with lots of swearing etc, but i can safely say that i have managed to get it running now!! The shaft of the pump was in the wrong position when it can back from being overhauled, so turning it through the...

P38 DSE Injection Pump Timing Woes

No problem Wammers, I appreciate this may have been covered on a few occasions now - I will have a good read through, and double check everything again. I'm working late shifts at the moment, but I'll try and take a pic when I finish work on one of my evenings this week - I don't finish until...

P38 DSE Injection Pump Timing Woes

Yep thats the one. My struggle is when i put the pin in place, i am only seeing a reading of 0.10mm lift at TDC. I can only obtain minimal movement of around 0.30mm lift in total, back from 0.10mm to zero, and forwards upto 0.30mm maximum, as the elongated mounting slots of pump hit the...
