same problem on my last TDi i removed the centre console and the rubber gasket underneath and removed the whole selection box and freed it up on the bench in a vice it took a couple of hours but well worth it remember to put plenty of grease in it when you put it back

i generally get 4.5 litres in mine but thats without the cooler

ive spent a couple of hours with the dash in bits today !!!! and yes I need to rewire the speker side of things and it does have a factory amp in the oassenger footwell that it would appear i cant use

does anyone know what stereos the jap imports had fitted from new ? i know there are options mine has an aftermarket stereo and some muppet has chopped the wiring loom to fit it the original block connectors are there for the power connections and ariel. Also it has the wiring for remote dash...

ive got a jap import with edc can i just blank off the egr and leave everything else connected ?????

Sorted the select problem out !!! there was about £3 in loose change jammed in the linkage !!!:D I just doubled the value acr the car :D :D

dumping the egr valve isnt a problem neither is dimping the cat and fitting a K&N filter but the EGR non EGR and EGR EDC models all have different pump timing and Im not sure if using the non EGR timing will be the right thing to do ????

is that right ? buzzes all the time ? as soon as the ignition is turned on and continues when the engine is running ?

ive just found all my hoses cracked !!! have repaired them but cant drive it yet also should i be ables to select 3rd 2nd or 1st gears when standing still ? I cant get any of the gears only drive and nuetral

take the jack out and look underneath the panels that the jack sits on you can see it but it can be felt

followed the wiring from the vacum sensor under the jack behind the headlight and the wiring connector goes to one of the auto transmission cooling pipes mines was not correctly connected but as yet i dont know if thatt was the problem as Im waiting for a set of water hoses cos they are all...

when i did my in my last discovery i went rond with a spot weld drill and drilled all the spot welds off ! 3 coats of hammerite on the new panel and riveted it back in there isnt really a need to weld it as it is not structural and its easier to get rivets out if for any reason you ever need it...

what about EGR removal on a EDC discovery ? is it the same as the non edc engines I did my old 300tdi about 5 years ago and it made a slightly noticable difference also removed the cat and adjusted the fuel pimp timing to the non egr setting.Economy wasnt improved but the drive was
