Got a 94 m reg disco auto but the diff lock leaver only goes up and down into hi-low it will not go across to engage the diif lock I asume that it is seized, so whats the best way to get it working? thanks.

same problem on my last TDi
i removed the centre console and the rubber gasket underneath
and removed the whole selection box and freed it up on the bench in a vice
it took a couple of hours but well worth it
remember to put plenty of grease in it when you put it back

Ok so removed the centre console and unbolted the 4 bolts to the leaver housing and found the left hand side was seized where the shaft slides so got it working again so it slides back and forth, but it still will not go into diff lock, i had a look underneath and can see the small leaver moveing but not very much, is there a problem in the box itself or is there an easy fix for this?

I had a similar problem on mine which turned out to be a seized switch. The switch that brings on the CDL light has a plunger which will stick solid and prevent the CDL selecting if unused for a long time. Took 15 mins for a new switch to be fitted which solved the problem.

had the same problem my self on my 1995 auto disco take out centre console remove bolts from housing,if i remeber its on splines so mark it with white paint so you know where it goes back when replacing the lever.as the earlier post says put lever in vice plenty of wd-40 and work it untill free...then plenty of grease in side and out, dont try just spraying round it underneath and forcing it you will bend the lever....beileive me they get tight.be happy
