    300tdi - heating

Don't think it will ever get hot with stat out. Iirc water circulates round cyl head pump and heater matrix only until stat opens allowing water to pass through rad to be cooled. Did heater get hot before you took stat out? Why remove stat what do you mean by blown up ?

    Gasless Mig Welder

Totally agree with you, however most people that buy these are desperate that's the point..just want to fix their motor for mot etc.. etc.. Most people doing regular work/restorations would more likely invest in better equipment.

    Gasless Mig Welder

sorted that quote for you mate I know chassis thickness as I have one. Point is op was about a 100 amp amateur hobby welder gasless. these are suitable for up to max 4.5-5mm, I am under this belief as I have one and have read the manufacturer's instructions. If you are saying they are...

    Gasless Mig Welder

Yes, especially if you are a beginner much more forgiving and better control = less stress for you:)

    Gasless Mig Welder

Make you mind up - the chassis IS heavy steel, about as heavy as a 100 amp gasless will handle anyway + there's nothing else much thicker on the motor I've found this takes a lot of trial and error to get right on some of these the max setting will just blow through. for bodywork use min...

    Members' Rides Section?

+1 As a relative noobie although I have quite enjoyed looking through the "galleries" would be nice to be able to link to threads etc... Members may be encouraged to link to/from their gallery / build threads as they wish. Not to sure "Members Rides" is an appropriate title though...

    attack of tin worm

It will probably be a lot worse than that when you remove the plastic sill covers trim etc.... still easily repairable. Do you weld? Just one of the many pleasures owning a Land Rover pass/fail depends on your mot man but irrelevant needs doing anyway. Best of luck

    1st time disco owner

I also checked both pipes at back of engine to heater matrix were not too high as this can cause problems and had heater controls set to hot Cable tie header tank to bonnet stay to make it higher than thermo housing cap and then follow James Martin's procedure BB posted Fill slowly

Changing a Disco's taxation class from 'Limited Use'

 getting old ! yeah you're right mis read/quoted what I was trying to say was "limited use" falls into one of the exemption classes as does disabled, nhs etc..

Changing a Disco's taxation class from 'Limited Use'

Limited Use is Tax exempt for disabled I think so should be able to tax it in normal way. check v5

best way to change a clutch?

+1 Don't know if it was easier for you than doing a Disco but looking at your pics you certainly seem to have better access/viewpoint from inside the cab. Having somebody else to rotate the engine is always a bonus. Next time it goes i'll bet you will do it in half the time :D:D:D
