Hi All

haven't posted for a while. hope that won't go against me.

My mate has a Disco 3, had a few problems with it so took it back to dealership that he bought it from. Anyway to cut along story short our main concern is they have lost one of the keys.

They said they will cut him a new one......

My concern is somewhere there is a key (coded key) to this vehicle.

So what do we need to do now, regardless of who's responsibility it is..

1. Do new barrels need fitted
2. I assume new keys have to be coded to the vehicle.
3. I assume the old key has to be blocked/disabled......??? ...
4. do the police need to be notified as somewhere out there there is a valid key for this vehicle
5' Do we need to notify the insurance company

I would also appreciate if anybody out there is up to date on selling rules / laws.

My Mate bought this vehicle in good faith off a dealership for £12,000.00 and has only been able to use it for 2 days in the last month.

Any thoughts / comments

Many Thanks in advance

Daz

the lost keyfob's code must be erased from the alarm memory and that's it... if anyone will open the door with that key(as the fob will not work anymore) the alarm will go off and the car will be immobilised

Thank you for your quick reply.

So just to be clear.... recode new key / keys or recode and block previous key...Yes.. barrel does not need changing.... apologise for my stupidity just need to what to tell dealership.

do we need to get proof of this in writing...???

Thanks for your help.
