Strange oil leak under TD4 freelancer

Hi all. Got what is a strange (at least it is to me and a local mechanic) oil leak under my 2006 TD4 freelancer. I've attached a photo to see if anybody has any ideas. It looks like oil is spraying out of the transmission, but surely that would be a different colour, right? My oil levels seem...

strange noise, let's see if this works

If this has worked you should be seeing a zip file of an irritating noise I hear every time I turn the key in my 2005 td4 freelander. It's coming from behind the instrument panel. The first noise you hear is the key being turned and the second is the silly buzzing sound. Is it normal? Could it...

    chipping

2005 td4 searched the forums on this one and find a clear answer, so here goes. It's obvious that chipping improves performance, but would chipping make your engine less prone to turbo problems (or any other typical td4 reliablity probs)? What do you people think?

My coming visit to the mechanic

Next Tuesday I'll be happily (it's under warrenty) leaving my 2005 td4 in the mechanic to have a few issues looked at. 1. Aircon spits water through vents. 2. Weird electrical behaviour as seen in strange buzzing noise behind instrument panel on turning the car on before engine start-up, rear...

    central locking system gets wet?

Hi all, I know there have been threads about central locking but thought worth posting my question and doubts. Central locking has gone erratic, back door opens, doesn't open, central unlocking stops working, horn sounds to warn me for (apparantly) no reason, etc. Noticed today a strange one...

    silly question time - HDC

Bearing in mind I have two young children who sit in the back seat and who's eyes are drawn constantly towards the hdc button my question is - what happens if you press it when driving normally, ie. out of 1st or reverse gear? I figure probably nothing but I would like a more informed answer....

2500 kms into my td4 freelander

Newbie back again after doing the Spanish version of green-laning, which is dust/rock-laning and it has worked great so far. I'm looking forward to the time (which I know will come eventually) when I can drive it over things that go bang under the car and not whince. But in the meantime I whince...

    New here, new freelander,

Well at least new for me, it's a 2005 td4. And to set the tone for all my posts in the future here's a strange question to start with. How should a Freelander be driven? I'm a motorbike man .... never really driven much carwise and those I have done have always been petrol so diesel is new to...
