    Bloody indicators!

I had a similar problem, it was the stalk assembly. Nothing wrong with the flasher and/or connectors. I mentioned the flasher relay to my local indie Landy shop, and they said they've maybe replaced the flasher a few times, whereas they've replaced the stalks many-a times. Good luck!

Steel Wheels - Paint Removal - Re Painting

I'm actually considering plastidipping the whole car (sating black). But I would like the wheels a nice metallic gunmetal / antracite colour. Something that's not very easily done with plastidip. And, I'm worried about durability when being muddy/dirty. :)

Steel Wheels - Paint Removal - Re Painting

Yeah. 6705165BKMO | 16x7 Black Modular 16x7 black modular £29 ex vat. Annoying as I have nice white ones, and being a wannabe tree hugger I don't like the buy-and-throw-away mentality. :( However, I think that a few rattle cans would still be cheaper than the £140ish it would cost to buy new...

Steel Wheels - Paint Removal - Re Painting

I'm thinking some dark grey, antracite, gunmetal, some such. :)

Steel Wheels - Paint Removal - Re Painting

I'm leaning towards the same. But I'll probably only scuff the paint on mine and spray rattle-can primer on them followed by some Halfords colour, potentially with clear coat on top.

Steel Wheels - Paint Removal - Re Painting

You can buy paint stripper from a car paint shop. It should be about £20 for a 5l can. Brush it on, let it work for a while, scrape paint off. It doesn't work on powder coatings (or it doesn't work well). If you don't use paint stripper and you need the wheels clear of all the paint, you'll have...

    Defender roof bars

Hi, I'm looking for a set of roof bars for my Defender 90, so if you've got a set of rusty (or non-rusty) bars lying around that you're not using, please let me know. I could use full rack too if it's the right price. Happy to collect within reasonable distance, I'm in North Oxon, otherwise...

Yes, I don't want to drill out another set.

    pressure washing underside

I cleaned mine by just flushing the frame rails with water. The small stones etc tend to block the exit of the water, so get a screwdriver or something to shift them around until the fall out of the frame rails. Just plenty of water and the crud should come out. Once the water's clear and...

    Stainless Steel Bolts

You should use copper slip on any stainless steel bolts because they're prone to binding. I also covered my P-clips on the A-post with plenty of ACF-50, and I also sprayed in as much Dinitrol in there as I could when I had the hinges off.

    Indicator cancelling confusion

Glad I'm not alone. :D Anyway. I've been tinkering with the indicators today. And here's what I've learnt. - The tabs on the steering wheel needs to be vertical, i.e 12 and 6 o'clock. If they are not in that position, you can use a screwdriver (or any other bar). to between the two tabs...

    Indicator cancelling confusion

That made me laugh. Initially. Hmmmm... "They all do that, Sir." :(

    Indicator cancelling confusion

Thanks, I'll have a look, I didn't think it could be mounted wrong. It's the whole unit. It only screwed on by the clamp. The blue bit that I'm twiddling with is part of the whole assembly. The steering wheel isn't even on, and the tabs on the steering wheel only go into the blue thingy in one...

    Indicator cancelling confusion

Hi, I made this video to show my confusion when it comes to my indicator behaving weirdly. Basically left-turns work fine, just as it should. However, right turns cancel when turning right, and sometimes doesn't stay on. The stalk unit is a brand new Valeo unit. Does anyone know what the...

    defender door adjustment

A drill. Just drill the feckers to smithereens! Replace with nice stainless bolts. There's kits out there. Don't forget to copper slip the ss bolts and put Dinitrol or ACF50 on the new clips you're using.

    Quick indicator relay question.

Thanks for the reply! You're right about the relays (and flasher relay). On my 1999 TD5 there's two relays behind the fuse panel. One's the wiper relay and the other one is the flasher relay. The hazards and the normal indicators use the same flasher relay. This time the problem was the...

    Quick indicator relay question.

Hi all, My indicators stopped working, so I'm fault finding at the moment, but one thing seems to puzzle me. Is the indicator relay and the hazard indicator relay the same relay? The reason for the confusion is that I cannot find a separate indicator (flasher) relay in the Haynes...
