Do pagid rear brake drums come painted?

U'll probably have to paint it mate. They so a mild primer type paint that soon disappears and then goes rusty making it look lovely behind ur clean alloys. Lovely! NOT!

    hawkeye result

Hey just reading this thread and seeing the word Hawkeye mentioned, I take it this is a specific code reader/scanner for lr? What's the cheapest way to read my current freelander? I've a passat and u can download a program called vcds lite and buy a cable off fleabay that will then allow u to...

    Front prop shaft gaitor

Cheers. Think I'll give it a go. Not a lot to loose I suppose apart from a bit of skin off my knuckles.

    Front prop shaft gaitor

Well he said he'd never used one so wouldn't/couldn't recommend them. I personally can't see an issue with them as we have all had at some part of our motoring career have had just a cv boot change and not the whole joint. Just wanted to know if anyone has tried them??

    Front prop shaft gaitor

Hi. Saw Austen at bell engineering the other day and he said the gaitor has split on the front prop shaft where it enters the ird. It obviously needs sorting. He said there r kits on fleabay but he wouldn't use them for customers but I was wondering if anyone in here has used them with much...

    Td4 engine oil?!

I was going to ring BMW and ask them what oil they'd suggest seeing ass they designed the engine. Ok so LL01 then? Yes I could use the stuff lr suggest but my mate says u can't go wrong with fully synthetic. He's a mechanic and rebuilds audi/vw high milers. He said there as clean as a whistle...

    Td4 engine oil?!

Right I've read loads of threads on here about engine oil for the td4 model. The main viscosity that keeps coming up is 5w40 fully synthetic. I know land rover use a 10w40 semi synthetic but its only a few quid more to get fully synthetic so I'd rather use the best oil I can. I was looking at...

    AC DIY recharge

If u know ur system is holding charge and u can get a kit at good money then there ok. My passat I'm still running works great with it. It needing topping up so squirted a bit in and works brilliantly. But as said, if ur ac has suddey stopped working then there's a hole somewhere so would be...

    Tailgate repair kit...anyone done one?

Purchased a repair kit of eBay and had a go doing it today. All seemed ok, had to compress the skinny spring on the motor to relieve strain to clip last cable into the runner. Fitted it back in car and recalibrated it. Seemed to struggle a bit then it stopped working. Took it all apart again...

tyres, i have been very lucky

So if one (the one being me) wasn't wanting to knacker up things in the 4x4 drivetrain, what should one look out for? Physically measure the tyre wall? Make sure all tyres are symmetrical or directional? Only ever driven cars and banged on any old tyre so don't really know much about 4x4 tyres.

    Alloy wheels

Well I'm in claines so very close to u blue. It's blackpole powder coaters. Spoke to them today and they said they'd charge £40 per rim. Sand blast, smooth divets, then silver finish. Tyre needs popping off the rim though but any local tyre fitter should do that then re balance and seal for £10...

    Bmw breather check

Been looking into this as I've just got a freelander and was asking about it. Hd3 said that BMW suggest a 3 year turn around. Think he suggested/thought u could remove the seperator and flush it with white spirit to "clean" it.

    Alloy wheels

Ha, I'm in the same boat. Just bought my freelander and one of the 18" alloys is shot. I was looking at using a local powder coating company in Worcester. They charge £50 per bare rim. Where in Worcestershire r u?

    DIY 96000 mile service

Thanks hd3. That's cleared it up a bit. The new filter that u get at BMW is the vortex seperator that replaces the land rover filter? When I finally get to look at it and say for arguments same mine has the filter can I just replace it with a new one OR but a seperator from BMW? How long does...

    DIY 96000 mile service

Cheers hd3. I've been reading a fair few threads on this and im now a bit lost but also dont know much about the td4 engine and where the filter actually goes on the engine. I want to make sure my engines got it and then change the filter?! Haynes manual on the way but read some where on here...

    fan belt

No worries. Had to change my mums on her corsa. U will usually find a tensioner of some sort. There fairly easy to spot as they usually don't have a ribbed pulley wheel unlike a pas pump or alternator. Slap a good spanner and rotate one way or the other. Be carefull though as they may break like...

    DIY 96000 mile service

 I thought I was being tight when servicing and fixing my cars. When brakes need doing with discs and pads I always put new discs on. Any info and pictures to this crankcase breather filter mod would be good. Need to know if mines been done as I've just got my freelander. Ta
