What have you done to your Landie today.

Booked her in for a full underbody/engine steam clean to get rid of the general grime in the engine bay and the years of waxoyl on the underside. It seems that rather than just 'top-up' the waxoyl, the previous owner just completely resprayed over the top, religiously, every year. Yesterday I...

    Propshaft bolt cross-threaded - damn!

Thanks everyone, for all your advice. I'll still use it if I need to, but I've got bits on the way to sort it asap. Thanks again.

    Propshaft bolt cross-threaded - damn!

There's no room at the transfer box end to get a grinder in there, unless the crossmember is removed (as far as I can see). I just hope I can get the duff nut off when the bits turn up for it... I'm going to remove the flange (thanks Buster et.al.) and replace the bolts and nuts too. Apart from...

    Propshaft bolt cross-threaded - damn!

Just replaced the universal joints on the front shaft of the 110. Four new nuts/bolts at axle end, all ok. Replaced the nuts on the transfer box end, as the bolts are captive. Three tightened up no problem, one started ok then tightened up like a ducks arse. I took it off, put a new nut on...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Truck started squealing and clunking (LOTS) on way home yesterday. Slid underneath this morning to check stuff. Rear axle UJ - tight, xfr box - tight, Front axle UJ -tight, xfr box - I really, really don't think it should bang and rattle like that!... Ordered new UJs for front propshaft...

    Freelander wellies

:welcome2: Buying a Land Rover to keep your feet dry is an oxymoron if ever there was one! :D

    Afternoon all...

:welcome2: If it still works fine with bits left over, then obviously those bits were spare, unnecessary and unimportant.... I've a drawer full of bits like that, and I've only had mine a few weeks :D Steve. 1997 Defender 110 CSW 300TDi - "The Green Meanie"

What have you done to your Landie today.

Started to line the load bed with 12mm ply and rubber so dogs can get bogging and I can just brush/hose it out... There'll be storage on one side so all the gubbins you need to keep a 110 going day to day can live in it without making the 110 look like a tip...

Is this possible - live cutoff switch

I guess so. If the pipe is flexible, clamping either side of the cut with some clamps (before you cut!) might help. A couple of small jubilee clips would be a sensible addition, to make sure the pipes don't come off.

Is this possible - live cutoff switch

It's easier to find a car in the surrounding area than somewhere across the country... The closer to the lift pump you fit it the shorter the distance it can go. Wouldn't the vacuum created by the lift pump also tend to reduce the available useful fuel amount and travel distance too?

Manual shut off valve: ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorsport-Fuel-Cut-Shut-Off-Tap-Rally-8mm-unions There's also 6mm and 10mm unions too. (I haven't the faintest what the ID of the fuel pipes are)

What have you done to your Landie today.

Today I changed the clutch master cylinder on the Defender 110 CSW 300TDi. I followed various instructions on here and on <cough>LR4x4</cough> and it was a doddle. Only instructions missing were to remove the bonnet-release from its bracket when moving the pedal cover, and that when removing the...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Remounted main light switch on the 110 "Green Meanie". Mounting nut had unthreaded, so turning the lights on and off was like stirring jam with a chopstick. A good job I looked rather than just order a new switch.. Saved £25. What to spend it on.. New seal for fuel sender, bugger's leaking. Set...

    The Green Meanie Has Landed!

The bulkhead is clean and strong, a wiping of oil on the inner and heavily waxoyled on the underside. The chassis and underside are all waxoyled, and make reassuring resistance and noises when prodded and hammered.I know it's and ongoing process though.. :D

    The Green Meanie Has Landed!

Hi all. :5bseeya: After wanting a Defender for ages, we finally bit the bullet, and a few days ago took delivery of our first ever landy, the 'Green Meanie'. It's a 1997 Defender 110 300tdi CSW, and I have plans... I've taken out the rear bench seats and belts, and will be fitting a...
