Mine were worse than that, the problem is when you start to sand them down the oxidisation dissapears and small hole appear instead. I have filled them and painted them and they will do for a while yet or at least until I can afford new ones.

My return valve can be viewed if I take off the dash top. Why dont you pull the hose off the pump and check it again to see if water is coming out. Pumps are not expensive either.

I use my Defender every day when it works that is, if I feel like a change I use the KTM for some fun. I much prefer to sit in traffic in my defender, that way if sombody tries to squeeze in I can scare the s@*t out of them. I ony do 50 miles a week commuting so I dont mind paying for teh fuel.

I didnt overcoat it at all, just used etch primer then slapped on the POR-15. Not really bothered if it discolours as it will probably get battered anyway, I just wanted to use up the remainder of my paint as it doesnt keep too long in the tin once opened.
