Part number for rockershaft hold down bolt on 300 tdi???

When taking off the rocker shaft earlier, one of the bolts had been rounded off. Managed to get the 3 nuts off and one of the bolts, but the other bolt needed me to use a bolt extractor and a breaker bar. Needless to say its now useless and i need a new one. Been looking on the Paddocks site and...

Compression test data on 300 tdi..

Well got the head off. Full of carbon and the bores were as shiny as a shiny thing. Good mate borught round his bore comparitor, what a bit of kit. I carefully cleaned off the carbon round the top of the bore and compared the top of the bore with that about 20mm or so further down and only...

Compression test data on 300 tdi..

Yes. It was the same amount of oil in each bore. However as it was down the glowplug hole, i could not be sure that the oil got to the bores and not just filled the piston depression up. I have a pretty good service history with the disco and cannot see anywhere where the engine has been out or...

Compression test data on 300 tdi..

Thanks for that, will do the wet test after. Im hoping that they will be ok, which leaves the valve and guides or the breather pipe is blocked which is causing the crankcase pressure im getting and blue smoke (which is a bit more noticable now that the pump is adjusted correctly). Turbo seems ok...

Compression test data on 300 tdi..

I have half compleated a compression test on my 300tdi D1 to see where blue smoke is coming from, but cannot find what the standard pressures should be. Only info i could find was in the haynes manual that said there should not be a difference greater than 70 psi. Could not find the info on my...

    Smokey engine partially cured

I say have a go. Its not that hard to do once you have read up on how to do it and are methodical on your approach. Took me about half hour or so to do and it has made a big difference to the way it drives. Mine however had already been messed with and set up wrong so i thought what the hell...

    Smokey engine partially cured

Had some success today on the list of bits to do on my 300tdi. I decided that as the weather was on the poor side i would fix something that would not hopefully take too long. I knew when i got the car that the fuelling had been messed with by the P.O. I read everything i could on tweeking the...

    Transmission whine on 300tdi

Thanks for the replys guys. Changed the t/box oil and that was very dirty and had a few metal bits attached to the plug. Also checked the diff levels as the rear has a really small pin hole but never run dry afaik. Managed to pick up a new pan at the bath and west show, so will pull the diff...

    Transmission whine on 300tdi

I have quite a whine frome my transmission but cant decide where its coming from. its either from the diffs or the transfer box. There seems to be quite alot of backlash if i grap hold of the drive shaft with the handbrake off and there is cluncks coming both the diff and the transfer box end...

diff internals? 10 spline Vs 24 spline

I have a very good spare 10 spline diff off a 200 series disco given to me. The diff on my 300 i believe is a 24 spline. Can i take the 24 spline diff cage and attach that to the good parts of the 10 spline diff, using its pinion, housing and ring gear and such? I do have dti's to check backlash...

Disco passed MOT! But still has issues..

Well Its passed its MOT with hardly anything needed to get it through, only major bit was a new steering box due to it leaking. My V8 donated its box for the cause, so all in all the bits cost less than a tenner. Now that that milestone is passed i can start to look at the other issues on it...
