thanx mate engine is out already out its one im looking at buying just wants new cam bearings.

hi how hard or easy is it to fit new cam bearings on a v8 is there a guide on the net anywhere on how to do it?

wow yeah there not cheap are they ill try find out if the l322 ones will fit as you can pick a second hand pair up for a lot less than that. failing that ill see if a fabrcator i know could put some together for a decent price surely cant be that hard to make with the right measurements

yes will be doing it all myself not really wanting to put a disco engine in as like you said think theres alot to change but its always an option. just wanted to know if i swop from gems to thor do i just slot the gems crank sensor strait onto the thor engine or do you have to change the housing...

yeah i know dont wanna end up with the same problem most ive found are from 4x4 breakers so if i was to go down that route id ask them to warranty it against a slipped liners and porous if they will, so is the sensor just a matter of swopping it for the old one, no need to change the housing and...

cheers mate, with the later engines and the crank sensor problem is it just a matter of changing the plate where the sensor fits or something is it much of a problem to do this its just most of the engines ive looked at are from a later car seem to be much easier to get hold of than the earlier...

hi guys, i have a 1995 4.0l v8 range rover and in serch of a new engine or bottom end, i believe that makes it a gems engine?? now trying to widen my serch is the 4.6 the same bottom end?? and the later type which i think is the thor?? would that go into my range rover or are they not...

hi all would the disco 4.0l v8 go into a p38 without to much messing about as these seem to be easier to come across than a p38 motor?

if your looking for a quick fix theres some stuff on ebay called irontite aparently meant to be good stuff and a permenant fix if the block isnt too bad so if your motor is still in one piece might be worth throwing a bottle in see if it works thats what i would of done if i hadnt of already...

yeah thats what i was thinking with the heads and everything off the motor isnt far from coming out now so if the engineers come back to me and say the heads rnt warped or cracked then will be looking for a block. how much did you pay for yours if you dont mind me asking, and are they easy...

no thats the thing this side of the block had a new gasket and bolts doesnt look like its been done long the gasket had no signs of blowing. the heads are at the engineers at the mo being pressure checked and skimmed get them back mon so will eliminate them.

[/URL][/IMG] this is a close up pic of the liner on no 5cyl doesnt seem to hav moved i even run a brand new stanley blade over it today so try and feel for any impefection but it seems to be flush with the block.

im in grimsby, will post some pics for you tomorrow when ive got some light i run my fingers over the top of the liners and didnt feel like the liners had dropped or anything
