    Journey into the unknown

Well, a month into freelander land and I ventured out for a long journey, packed the essentials, water, oil, coolant, tow rope, new head gasket, new engine, credit card, joined the RAC and off I set. 250 trouble free miles later I returned completely unscathed. What are all you people on about...

    Clutch Pedal

Evening all, the clutch pedal on my 1.8 freelander has gone completely in that it pushes to the floor and just stays there (previously driving normally) I'm hoping its just the clutch cable or the freelander equivilant. Any ideas please before a trip to the garage. Cheers

    The Freelander done good

Hooray someone with something positive to say!!! Well done mate, lets have a few more of the same. I am really happy with my freelander (I know you lot its very early days) but I'll critisise the bugger when it goes wrong not before. Give a dog a bad name and all that.

    All doom and gloom....surely not!!

Agreed I've had some great tips and found loads of gud stuff already but some of the banter goes over my head at the minute, for example this ''Pants Down Moment'' Whats that all about? By the sound of how long you guys spend under or bent over your vehicles I would suggest Pants Definately Up!!

    All doom and gloom....surely not!!

Aye, its all good crack on here but it just seems to someone new to the freebie that nobody seems to have a goodun!! I was just trying desperately to find some hope rather than waiting for impending disaster.

Thanks to the lads who recommended the linseed oil. Best £1.80 I have spent, did it yesterday brings the plastic up lovely. I used Raw Linseed Oil not the boiled. Cheers for the tip!

    All doom and gloom....surely not!!

I did have one or two probs initially but touch wood its running OK. Surely the idea is to have both good and bad experiences... or is it just a forum like lots of others for people to moan and whinge, if I wanted that I would spend time talking to the missus!!!!

    All doom and gloom....surely not!!

I have been in the world of the freelander for 3 weeks now (51 reg 1.8se 5 door, 77000 miles) and although there has been the odd problem, its nice to drive, looks good, and is nice and clean but its worrying I come on here and everyone just slags the car off, with justification I'm sure but...

    Freelander safe mode ?power loss

I have a similiar problem on a 1.8 2001, the light comes on periodically, will stay on for a couple of days then go off but there is no difference at all in the driving of the vehicle. I have had diagnostic check no faults showing up cos typically when I took it in the light was off. Funnily...

    Dirty Grey Plastic

Cheers Mikey, unfortunately the trim on my car is grey, unless they do it in grey, however I wouldn't be bothered about doing them black. U think it would cover the grey?

    Dirty Grey Plastic

Hi guys, anyone any suggestions for cleaning/restoring the grey plastic bumpers and wheel arch trim. I have spayed them with trim shine products but aftera few days it wears off. Somebody at work says he has seen (but can't remeber where) a bumper polish that is grey in colour. Any ideas. Cheers

    Warning Light!!

:) Getting used to the quirks of the freelander. Sat morning was just about to start checking stuff, the better half wanted to nip out, stalled reversing off the drive. Lo and behold no more warning light!!!! Amazing. Its booked in for a service in a couple of weeks so I'll see what they say...

    Warning Light!!

hi Adam, cheers for that, but its not all the lights its just the amber coloured one shaped like an engine, as I say the handbook says you can drive it if it is driving normally, which it is, and arrange a service. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me if its something that needs urgent...

    Warning Light!!

Hi lads and lasses, anyone out there any advice the amber engine warning light has come on on my 2001 freelander 1.8 petrol. The handbook as always is vague. It reckons if it comes on and the car drives normally its OK to drive. Is it OK to drive and for how long, oil and coolant levels are...

    Help Me!!!

I have had a very rough intro to the world of the freelander. Bought a 2001 1.8 ES on Friday, seemed good, no unusual noises, starts well, drives nicely, lovely and clean. Saturday the casing of rear section of the viscous coupling completely sheared off and ended up spinning around the...
