Hi guys, was out yesterday and noticed my 2005 TD5 was idiling really rough and when I drove it the smoke trail was very thick no power loss and the engine was less rough at higher revs but still loads of smoke. Any ideas?? much appreciated.

How many threads should it be from the actuator to the nut on td5 defender.

Are all the wires correctly fitted I've just solved this problem on mine and had a bad earth fookin nightmare. When the engine is cold does it jump into the centre of the gauge on start up??

No I just earthed every thing individually back to the battery then started disconnecting them and discovered what it was would have been a lot easier if I had a multi meter but I aint.

The heater matrix lever that goes from 0-2 acts as a earth or it's supposed too. Mine wasn't working so was sending the instrument panel crazy. All fixed now.:D
