how bad does the rot look?

Get under it and poke and prod with a screwdriver Boot floor above rear axle may be gone, take a torch, even if it is, its not the nightmare you might think to replace, the floor panel's only about 70 quid, takes a few hours to do, most people do the A frame BJ at the same time Apart from...

    Britpart draglink problems

I had the wheels balanced and tracking done as a matter of course I know its easy to overlook this, but what with the price of decent tyres now 20 or 30 quid on tracking seems good value Ive just received a replacement, i had to buy it, so the old one can be returned to britpart, be...

    TD5 auto box reliability

Change the oil every 20k. Mine was a bit brown when i got it, took a couple of changed to thin it out as you never get all the oil out. Buy a big metal syringe, they're about the size of a grease gun, makes getting the oil in a doddle, As for special tools, a couple of hex sockets are...

    MOT Changes today - 20-3-13

Regarding de-catting Looks like this will be a fail, however, it is easy to do without it showing When i did my D1, i removed the front pipe, used a slicing disc in the grinder, cut 3 sides of a rectangle, smashed out the gubbins, and welded up the slice. Easy I'm in Northern Ireland...

    worth a look?

Coming with a rear height control fob would suggest a fair bit of towing too. Its in Perth, lots of ice and salt on the roads up there, so the rear chassis could be doubtful too As someone else has said, a third party would be a help, as at 88k, there will be a few expensive fixes coming...

    D2 ball joints

Have just done the front ball joints on my D2 What a huge difference in steering!!, it now goes where i want it to, more or less! Funny thing was, althought there was a fair bit of wear, ive seen them far worse on cars, but with less effect As for doing them, i seemed to have been...

oh come on - not turning off !

If you do need to 'stall' it Pull the bonnet, and block the air feed to the air filter box some way, a rag or similar, or even do the same at the air flow meter, which is easier to get at Starving an engine of air will stop it ok cheers

    ball joint replacement

No, Ball joints, although obviously they allow the hub to swivel too! The set up is different to a Disco1, D2 has a ball joint pressed into the axle, not a shimmable (and sensible) set-up like the D1
