Hi guys,

Bought myself a 1987 Land Rover 90 with a 300tdi on a td5 Chassis yesterday, can't wait to get some money spent on her...

First I need Insurance, no one wants to insure me and when they do, it's at £3000

My best quote so far is with "The Green Insurance Company" at £2486.
Hardly the company I expected to be cheapest

So please any advice, or please names of company's who insure Landy's.
Is there any Landy Specalists?

Your help would be much appreciated

Thanks :)

adrian flux ? sureterm ?

get a copy of LRO magazine, there's loads of insurance companies in the back, all perhaps not surprisingly, offering land rover insurance

My lad's 18 and passed his test about 6 months ago. The answer I found to expensive Landy insurance was.................................................................................................................................a fiat punto!

you will be ass raped by any company at 18, specially one that modified, you wil be lucky to get under £1900 i recon

Give perter best a ring, my 17 yr old mate has his rebuilt 88 with them and another guy is looking at a 90 and got a good quote from them.

For your age you have to get the phone out none of the website/comparision ones will give you a decent quote.

What's wrong calling a Landy a truck
I call mine a truck, most people I know call em trucks...

As for insurance I think I'm giving NFU a call...

i'm 18 and insured my 1986 110csw rebuild with kwickfit which are linked with aviva only cost 904 quid fully comp :) was well surprised and you get a free mot! back of the net!

i no for some reason factory fitted 200tdi and onwards are more expensive to insure than pre 1990 engines as i had quotes on older models before i bought my 94 plate 200tdi was only like 300 quid difference though

how the fooooook did you manage that though? you on your parents or???
mines double that

Footman James -

Boydy £750 @ 17 for a 110 CSW in his own name same price for a 90 irrc
Lad on LRUK with a Petrol 88 @ 18 £700 i think.

Or try NFU if you have family with them.

Don't bother with doing these online quotes, Ring them up ;)

treid nfu were to young for them to insure us on a defender

Have you got family with them? They are a bit odd if you don't have family with em...
