As soon as I can get the software running on Wow and / or Autocom I'll let you know if it talks to the Jatco. Been a nightmare of running Java routines to download unlock codes and badly written instructions plus my pc has an allergic reaction to Java!! @PRO has been fantastic and given support into the early hours.

That would be handy Andy!!;)
Maybe I could pop over to yours, to see if it comes up with anything useful for my issue. I'm still convinced it's a broken wire somewhere, although without a working diagnostic reader, it's impossible to say.

Over the last couple of days, I've been continuing to paint the offside rear bumper corner. After many coats of colour, lots of flatting in between and several clear coats, I've finally got to the stage where I need to polish it to a high shine. I have however discovered an issue. The bloody paint I ordered is slightly off the colour of the car!! The new panel, although painted correctly, has less metallic particles, and is more conifer green than olive green. I ordered the paint by paint code, and shook the can for more than the recommended 2 minutes, probably closer to 5 minutes.

I'm reluctant to do the whole painting process again, as it takes so damn long, so I might just polish it up and slap it on.

I've had a change of plan now anyway. Having been unable to sell my TD4 SE for what I wanted (people are being put off by the gearbox issue) I've decided to keep the SE and sell the 1.8 K series XEi instead. Not having much wrong with it will mean it'll sell quickly, for about the same money as I was asking for the SE. As a slight colour variation on the rear corner bumper won't make much difference to its value, that's the plan from now on. At least until I change my mind again.:oops:
If you can get the 1.8 through MOT and running well it's got to be worth at least £500 to £1000. What were you thinking it is worth?

With a load of support from @PRO, WOW is now running.
With it I can test all the instruments, switch relays and windows and horn etc.
Read ABS, Airbag, Immob and engine codes.
Calibrate the g sensor !
But there is no module fitted for the 'flight recorder' for data measurement and no connection to the auto transmission.

Slightly disappointed, but have a Delphi box which should work with Autocom which I have now (thanks PRO). The WOW interface won't attach to it.
That was a trial installing, poor instructions, a video of someone just clicking and something happens, when I did it nothing happened !
I would say that has taken about 8 hours to install and get to work, I have had to learn some JAVA and run unlock codes which fit into the various modules, the error messages are unhelpful and the whole thing has nearly gone out of the window on several occasions !!

Next stress box should arrive this week.

Take back the above - more interrogation and experimenting and if I tell the WOW that my car is a 2003 it allows access to the Jatco !
Read codes, activate solenoids and read solenoid status etc.
I'll PM you a file with screen shots of what it can do on the gearbox. Mine had an eprom fault which cleared ok.
Happy days....

That's excellent news Andy. Maybe I'll get over to you after Christmas for a diagnostic session. It would be fantastic if it showed what the problem is with my TD4.
Thanks again. :)

I am curious myself if it's anything that wow would read and autocom will not. Since, with my 30 quid interface, I can swap the firmware of it.
That is the best tool you can get for that kind of money. I was able to fully diagnose a C63 AMG with a long scroll bar of modules.
Gland it works, wow is a bit crap to setup indeed especially if computers are not your thing. That is why better walk before run with delphi/autocom instead.

Nodge68 will you still consider selling the td4 after getting flashy arrows on exact gearbox issue? :D decisions decisions decisions.
No. I've decided to keep the TD4 SE auto. She's so nice to drive (current issues excepted), that I can't let her go for peanuts. I'm going to sell the Freelander that's the subject of this thread instead.

Ed zachary, and if you need advise on purchasing/setting up the autocom/delphi diag that is proven to work for ~30 quid we're here.

I'm glad to hear you're thinking of keeping the one you've put all the effort into for some time :)

Are you selling them? What is yer connection to the product?

Glad to hear that Nodge.
Cheap 1.8 Freelanders extremely common and good fun for a project but a good TD4 SE Auto is a rare beast and yours is one of the best.
Sorn the TD4 until you get it sorted and use the 1.8 for your daily in the meantime. With the pressure off you can take your time and work through the issues or even swap the gearbox for a used one from a crashed car. You could even have a bit of fun and pull the engine and gearbox out completely to work at it.
Like the great man AVE on YouTube says, "Given enough time and money I can fix ANYTHING"
If you can't sort it then nobody can. :D

Glad to hear that Nodge.

I'm not sure the wife has got the message though, as it's still on some kind of selling site, and she keeps arranging people to come and see it.

The 1.8 will sell quickly, as soon as I get time to finish putting it back together. ;)

I never seem to have any time.:(

Mine was good when I got it, and most people who came to look at it said it was the best they'd seen. I however think it looks "well used", as indeed it has been. There's knocks and chips on the paint, some surface rust underneath and an annoying creaking from the front suspension, these are on to of the gearbox issue. However I've been driving it with gearbox issue for over a year now, so I'm used to it. I just don't feel happy about losing all my comforts, even if mechanically the 1.8 is a more simple beast.

The 1.8 isn't ready to drive and doesn't have an MOT, so that's currently SORN, while I get it ready. I'm planning on getting it ready for sale, just as winter sets in, so I can get the best price for it. Winter should put 30% on the price of a Freelander. :D

I know the feeling, I've been working 10 hours most days recently and the odd Saturday. I also look after my 92 year old mum every Sunday so so have very little free time to look at cars.

You've owned it for years so you know every scratch and bump. People coming to look at it can only take in the general appearance and a few issues but no way will they see everything.
