Just spent some money on the truck prior to a 1,200-mile trip around Scotland.

Exhaust system was blowing, and a bit rotten at some of the joints so fitted a S/S Janspeed high-flow twin pipe system. Had to cut the rear skirt very slightly to accomodate the pipes, but it sounds MONSTER. Not rowdy, but a lovely deep V8 rumble and idle and under load... highly recommended.

Just one potential problem... the gas consumption round Scotland was grim. Even cruising at 60 could not get above 19.6mpg (can normally get 25-28mpg at that speed). However, it might have been the top box drag factor.

Anyone know - will the "high-flow" system need any tuning/chipping or should the motor run fine? It goes great, with no loss of performance or smoothness.

I think lots of people want to hear what they sound like before fitting them.

Any chance of some kind of recording/video? It'd be very helpful!

I've noticed on youtube that some exhaust manufacturers already do this, but there don't seem to be many for a P38.

Also I'd be interested to know if your consumption improves...

I'll try and find the camcorder and see what I can do.

But I can confirm it is definately not outrageously loud. It just sounds like a big fekkin V8.

Sounds just what I'm after! What sort of mods did you have to do to get it to fit? Did it go on as well as the original with no hangy down bits that might snag/ground?

It fitted fine, the hangers lined up, very secure, nothing messy at all. The pipe passes under the wheel well though, not over the top of the axle, but it's still above the axle so I don't think it affects the ground clearance.

The only mod was cutting the rear skirt a bit - you need a semicircle to accomodate the large bore straight tailpipes as the originals bend down before the skirt.

If it is running on LPG (gas) it may need remapping,of course the other reason is that the "wonderful engine note"is causing one`s right foot to endlessly blip the throttle to attain orgasm thru sound.

How do you mean "passes under the wheel well though, not over the top of the axle"?
