Hi,
I’ve a 2003 L322 which has periodically shown some reticence with its remote locking.

I’ve always had a ‘key battery low’ warning -despite brand new batteries in the fob, and it’s always just worked.

Occasionally it would lock some doors and half-lock others but a lock / unlock cycle would normally sort it out.

This time it refuses to respond at all.

Helpfully, while the physical key turns in the driver’s lock barrel it does sod all to the locks.

The AA are having a go at gaining entry with little success.

Does anyone have any good ideas of what to try to gain access ?

Thanks again

Bob

Hi,

Thought I’d update this and ask for (yet) more help and advice…

The great and the good tried everything with this and ended up having to smash the drivers window.

I’ve done the lock repair and the key now physically turns the barrel -but this doesn’t open or lock the doors -I wonder if the latch is seized and has just chewed the newly-repaired barrel ?

I also cannot re-sync my key -the rubber buttons are a bit the worse for wear and it just won’t sync up. I tried a blank fob and the buttons on it are too bloody stiff to do anything with.

Can anyone recommend a good source for decent key blanks ?

I’ve even consider one of the flippy fobs if they’d .

I thought about just getting another whole proper key but because my MY is primarily BMW the locksmiths all say it’s a nightmare and won’t touch it :(

I’m also concerned that perhaps it’s not the key at fault, is there a way to test the remote / central locking is ok ?

I’ve no active fault codes but there were some historical ones saying the central locking relay had shorted to ground -once cleared they’ve not returned.

Really tearing my hair out with this, so any help or advice most grateful.

Thanks again

Bob
