Silver to black

I am going to paint my checker plate black.

looking at the weather for next 4 months I’m not going to get it done and dry before rain / cold. Therefore I’m toying with drilling out rivets, painting off vehicle and re riveting on. Any reason not to do this?

You'll need to take it off as you will need to prep. them properly with an acid clean and use a suitable etch primer otherwise the black paint will just flake off.

Best to do it off. As said ^^^^^^plus saves masking and you can do edges and slightly underneath aswell.

Definitely use etch primer. The previous owner of my Landy didn’t and the black has mostly peeled off.

And when replacing use countersunk bolts rather than rivets, makes it easier to take off next time!
