SRS fault light

Firstly thanks for letting me join.

Recently had to put a power booster on my Freelander 2 twice due to a flat battery. Found out the fault was with the cooling fan control unit which was replaced.

After this the SRS warning light is now on constantly. No fault codes showing on diagnostics +unable to reset.

Any ideas?

Is that no faults showing when you take it to a garage with fully F2 compatible diagnostics, or no faults when an ODBII device reads them?

It could be a bit of corruption on the airbag control unit. Voltage spikes from jump starting can cause all sorts of odd faults with modern electronics in vehicles.

Get a diagnostic read done (not an OBD engine code read) and go from there.

For reference. It's much better to charge the battery off the car, instead of connecting booster cables, as the power spikes can cause all sorts of issues.

Both, had auto electrician look at it and took it to Landrover specialist

Thanks, was wondering if needed to replace SRS control unit. It broke down in a carpark, had to use power booster to stsrt it and take to garage, next day garage had to do the same agsin in order to move it.

If the SRS light is lit, then there will surely be a code for it somewhere to be read.

I'm sure even Land Rover wouldn't throw a warning light without a code being available to say why its lit.

You can't have a warning light, without a code, as the code is what's producing the producing the light.

Thats what the electrician said! To be honest I wasn't impressed by the Landrover specialist, not sure the member of staff who looked at it knew what his one name was

There are only a few different ways that the SRS light can be on:-
Fault with the circuit that actually drives the bulb.
A dead ECU, but then the diagnostic tool should complaint that it can't log into the ECU.
A working ECU and a working light but a fault with an airbag or wiring. In this case the ECU will log a fault code.

To be clear, if it is the SRS ECU that has put the light on, then it will log an error code to say why.
