C'mon guys give the OP a break.
This is supposed to be a forum for mutual support and advice. Yes banter is a part of the community element, but I'm not hearing much support here.
Curlytops, the reality is that very few people on here will have any idea how much a 15 plate L405 ECU is going to cost as very few will have ever have had to replace one. The LR ownership on this forum does include very recent models, but most of us own older vehicles that we work on ourselves. Modern LRs such as yours require highly sophisticated workshop facilities to repair and maintain and are not yet conducive to the DIY mechanic for anything but routine servicing. Similarly most spares for the L405 are only available from LR dealerships and they can pretty much charge what they like. Sadly unless you have just blown a fuseable link designed to protect the ECU against just such an error, your bill from LR is likely to be substantial.

Hiya buddy

Must admit I would never ever jump start another vehicle with my D3 because of its electronics , too risky seeing there’s over 30 x ecu s , newer ones there’s are 50 x plus ecus

Nope, never , no, no no no no and no , snigger,

Read a few interesting articles ref costs of replacing ecu’s etc , gulp

Hiya My Friend,.

Yes jump starting one of these high tech beasts is a risk even when done properly.. ;)

And heaven forbid you do it wrong, Doing it wrong will always fry one of or a few of the Thousand ECU's they seem to have!! ;)

And these Computers are eggspensive!!

Anyway how u been? any more D3 upgrades planned? ;)

In the cold weather a neighbour asked if I could jump start their car, I just said sorry but have got a jump pack u can borrow

Indeed OP won’t know until which ever ecu there talking about is replaced , said on the other thread hope it hasn’t knocked out the alarm system , read if that happens the vehicle can be written off because of the huge cost to replace everything

Have been working out some little mods, ie extra panel at the bottom of my dashboard , example of pic

Got some black mat plastic sheet that is textured for a better match so will lay that over the metal plate to blend it in better , just been sitting at the kitchen table working it all out

Hope ur also well

That'll look good once done Gary.. ;)

Aye jumpstarting is a risky business now lol

You have Check, double check and triple check in most cases to ensure its done correctly as to not blow the car up lol ;)
