Hairdresser!!!! Lol. You have enticed me back. Far from a hairdresser . Car history m3, 911, panamera, audi r8 spyder and now the RR.
OK, let's start again.
Sorry yr motor is borked mate.
Is it a non-starter, or what?
There's a lot of good stuff on here and people that like to help.
Best to move the whole thing to the RR section with the model-type heading added for maximum exposure to people in the know.

Now im the bad guy!!!!! Nice knowing you for a short while.

What do you need help here for youv'e got a Range Rover that talks to you it's told you it wants a new ECU all you've got to do is ask at a Land Rover main dealer how much it costs...at least that's how your post reads...without a single please or thanks in the slightest...

We are going in circles perhaps.
@Curlytops has a problem.
Money WILL certainly fix it.
But, is there a way he can be less at the mercy of a "main-stealer"?
Anyone got diag-kit for his model? and are they local to him?

To be fair mate... that R8 Spyder is a bit of a hairdresser car.

At least a well paid hairdresser I will say. Panamera is nice looking and I bet went like a stabbed rat, very nice.

But yes, this will cost you a fair bit, all the electrical **** is a little bit like witchcraft to me when it comes to cars. However a very brief google was pulling up results around £250-500 depending on aftermarket or genuine LR. Might be wrong but that sounds about right. Then if you’re not able to fit it yourself there’s probably an hour or two labour in that so there’s another £120

I dont believe that having a modern RR is a waste of money. I do believe that my error and having to pay for it is a huge waste of money.

Sometimes the best way to learn is the hard way..

next time you won't do it the wrong way.

It will be expensive no one can change that, I can't give you an exact sum as dealers vary..

Could be £1 to £10 000 can't tell ya.

Labour and parts at LR mains are always expensive..

Hi electrics are coming on but the car won't turn over. I just need to know what the cost would be for something like this and would it be cheaper if i got a land rover specialist do it instead. Thank you in anticipation of your assistance

It was a v10. It was my favourite car. Lol to the hairdresser. The pan was an all rounder.

As Dan has said.
First thing would be to tell what the stealer says/wants (get all the details).
Then put in the correct section, maybe the wizards on here can work it out between them.

Don’t forget to mention proper model/year description.
None of us here like to waste money that’s why we are here. But sometimes you need to accept your mistakes and laugh about it and move on to a solution.:D

No popcorn on this thread @Henry move on:)

Suggest you 're-post in the range rover section giving details more people will read it...and the banter is more tech than pxxs take...

Personally speaking I would avoid the JLR main dealer network unless my car was still under warranty post-sale.
If you can find a local independent that people tell you can be trusted, go there.
Most people on here are either general whizz-kids, electronics jockey's or long-term spanner-monkeys with a lot of expertise on specific vehicles.
I would ask in the RR section/sub-section to see if there is someone local to you on here that has some diag kit and is willing to connect it up and see if they can point you towards a solution.
Tea/coffee and biscuits and possibly the covering of travel costs is a good incentive to get a more local person to engage with your problem.
Sorry we got off on the wrong foot. Stick around, this place is a goldmine of help and camaraderie.

Engine size won’t make it less gay. Just a very fast and loud hairdresser. It’s the styling of it that is hairdresser.

Anyway, just ignore all of the advice I also gave in that post, including price estimates which is what you asked in the OP. You’re welcome...

I always thought bmw series 1 were hairdresser cars. You must know some wealthy hairdressers
