I want to change the oil in the front and rear diffs. Rave says to use Loctite 290 on the drain plug threads when replacing. I actually have Loctite 270 in the garage. Do you think the 270 would do the job or should I wait till I have 290?

Thanks.
never bothered - very few weep, as they are a tapered thread..... and if they do, it shows there is some oil in there. ....providing it is not excessive.

I think you will find loctite 290 is a bit like the old red hermetite

I remove and refit hundreds of taprred level and drain bungs at work each year, none ever get any sealant when refitting.
