i had a set of bearmach hoses that were bearmach branded according to the shop, but they were just over-stickered genuine land rover parts

Best advice? Get on GOOD working relationship with the EXPERIENCED parts manager at your local independent LR specialist.

They will be able to tell you genuine, OEM or aftermarket. They can tell you the source of the part in many instances.

Also an experienced parts manager will tell you when they will fit, a genuine, OEM or aftermarket part. OK they might be slightly more expensive then a online parts supplier BUT the advice from an experienced parts manager is worth a premium.

Last week at our local specialist we got various parts in and lined them up for comparison. We picked 2 out of 3 and the third was returned at no cost to us.

Get on GOOD working relationship with the EXPERIENCED parts manager at your local independent LR specialist. The local garage will not want to fit crap parts as they will just get a warranty claim which they want to avoid

I misread the thread title and thought it was "Britpart Poem"....

"They come in boxes of blue and white
Some of their parts are total... "

... but then I realised I'd got it wrong, so I didn't finish it.

Guess if you're wanting original equipment quality you need to buy from Land Rover parts dept.

Not always!
I fitted a genuine 'screen washer pump, purchased from my local stealer & the thing didn't work. Returned the item under warranty but they didn't have any others in stock, so bought BP pump & that's still working years later.
Recent experience : oil pressure switch - Aftermarket £3.50 OEM £15.00 LR £38. I went for the middle priced one.

This is excellent advice, I buy almost all
My bits from CPA - a proper parts supplier/motor factor. They can get most things and it all comes oem as standard. The odd weird thing they can’t get but most of the time they can, and if they don’t have it in stock they can get it next working day.

Also really helpful, and their knowledge is excellent!
