Message re Marc Cleave

Hi Folks,

My name is Tim Grenville-Cleave and I am Marc's dad.
I do not know how to ensure that all members get to read this.

It is with deep personal sadness that I have to inform you that Marc died on the 15th Jan in Nottingham where he was at University studying for BEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Some of you may have followed the thread he started
1988 Range Rover Classic 3.5L V8 EFi
His RR is here at home with me. He used it throughout 2017 until it stopped on him one day in Nottingham with an ignition fault (traced to the amplifier) he never got round to fitting it before the MOT expired in December.

I'm afraid I'm to blame for getting him hooked on Classics. When he was small I owned a 3.5 turbo EFi with a Wood & Pickett body conversion. He never forgot the exhaust note!! Years later when he asked me where to park his Classic I nearly keeled over.

The only help from me he would accept in the early days was to give him 15 minuets of instruction on Mig. Of course I never owned any of my tools again. Last year I bought him his own Mig + Argon, a Compressor and a grit blaster. He was looking forward to putting in a lot of hours this summer ...
He may have mentioned that he fitted skimmed heads when he rebuilt the engine. I'll bet he didn't tell you that he skimmed the heads himself, using assorted grades of emery glued down to my 4ft X 2ft Cast Iron Surface Table measuring the head capacity with petrol and a pipette.

I could go on for hours about how proud I am of his efforts and achivements.

My heart goes out to you mate, what a truly wonderful father and son relationship, something I hope to replicate with my little 3 year old when he gets into v8 tinkering!!

I can't begin to imagine your sorrow and pain ,From one father to another my deepest condolences and sympathy to all of your family.May you find the strength to get through this awful loss and celebrate the life of your wonderful son.Bless all of you

My deepest condolences, I had the good fortune to know Marc through the forums and for several years we kept in touch with his build of the Range Rover Classic here in the UK and my own Discovery build taking place in Belgium.

He was a very likeable lad and I always admired him for tackling the big beast, my own sadness comes as I never got to meet him in person even though we did manage to swap mobile numbers when I got back to the UK.

A very sad loss to all who knew him.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family in this time of mourning.

You have my deepest sympathies on your tragic loss. I cannot begin to imagine your situation. I have 3 adult sons and I know how devastated I would be.
