Afternoon Ladies and Gents,

Want to go to Northern Europe later this year. Has anyone done this overland trip before? any must see sights or recommendations or advice would be appreciated!
Currently have a convoy of two:
Def 110 (me)
Def 90 (@def90cen ).

thanks landy lovers!

I did it in reverse driving from Russia into Norway, down the coast and then across into Sweden. It was around September / October time.

I drove to Nordcamp (Europes Northerly most point) which is nice to do for a box ticking, but would have been better in summer or dead winter I think.

You must see the Loft Island (not sure on spelling) you could spends ages there driving little and exploring tiny coves and small places. - get the ferry from Reine to Bodo if you don't want to unwind yourself.

There are an amazing amount of national parks and mountains to exploring if you are into that sort of thing. I stopped off many times along the way simply at places that looked nice.

You can camp anywhere in norway that's not farm land or someone's living space for 24 hours. But also look up their bovy system. I stayed at a few places after I picked up hitch hikers that knew how it worked. Seems you pay a small holding fee to get a key that opens all the buildings dotted around the country. All the places I stayed at I would have expected to pay £30 a night for simular in the UK. Lovely nights sleep, log fire, place to myself, etc.

Niall,

this is so much help. the little log cabins is exactly what I was looking for but couldn't find info anywhere - will look into it for sure!

cheers
Charlie

Here's some photos from one of the places I stayed at. Might help you search for the write things online to find the places. To be honest you don't need a key to get in, some of the poeple there didn't have one. But it was so cheap for so much - there is no reason not to contribute.
