Hi All

Sorry if this has already been posted. I did search but could find what I was looking for.

I have just brought a 2000 discovery 2 and I can't get the radio to work. The radio it self lights up and looks like it's working but there is no noise coming out of the speakers. The cd changer seems to work and there is what I think is an amp under the passenger seat which appears to be connected but can't tell if it has power, have check the fuses they seem fine both in fuse box and the back of the radio. It it likely that I need a new amp? Or am I missing something? Did find something online about a relay behind the glove box but have search high and low and can't see one.

Thanks for any help in advance.

There are two fuses for the ICE system; one for the head unit and one for the amplifier unit under the passenger's seat.
Both fuse F16 for the head unit and F17 for the amp are 15 amp and are located on the fuseboard behind the panel below the steering wheel.
That's a good place to start.

Thanks for the reply.

Have just been out and checked the fuses they looked fine but have replace both just to be double sure and still the same. Radio on but no sound???

I would suggest that your next checks should be a physical look at all the wiring and plugs.
Check to for some sort of something from the speakers, probably just a faint hiss at this point.
From there on I would suggest that you enlist some assistance unless you have and know how to use a multimeter.
You're going to have to split the system into sections and check each in turn. I doubt if you have any sort of device for checking whether the radio is sending an audio output to the amplifier.
If you are able to read wiring diagrams then all of the ones you'll need are in RAVE.

Under front passenger seat connector front of amp may not be connected. If you have just bought the disco pull out factory unit to see if speakers have been rewired to take after market unit as amp would have been disconnected.

No more ACE and no more Suspension are bags - Yippie! Last year I replaced my 1999 TD5 discoveries ACE system with the anti-roll bar kit.Last month I replaced the air bag suspension with springs, same time replacing new shocks. In all honesty, I have found no difference in the handling of the car at all.Since doing this, I already look 10 years younger for my age! My radio/cassette player has now given up on me.Can anyone tell me if the Pioneer DEH-x4900bt is compatible with my car? There is also a 16 pin dvd head unit adaptor that goes with it. ANY answers ASAP very much appreciated! Happy Xmas to you all out there!
