Alas I don't wave now.. I always did but since moving to the countryside the farmers are too busy fondling sheep or summit as they just don't do it.
Snap. When I was selling my 50th defender, this guy test driving it was waving at every land rover he passed on the dale road. I was thinking wtf is he doing but he did get a wave back from a lifted 110.
Generally I restrict myself to flicking the vees at disco drivers :D

Perhaps what you see as a wave is in fact the poor unfortunate driver trying to get some circulation going in his frozen hand, or trying to demist the screen?
As someone else suggested, it is a sympathy thing. Bit like riding a British bike..
I wave, often don't get a reply though (shiny and new or grumpy farmers being the least friendly)

I always pretend to be fiddling with my radio if I see a freelanderer coming.
Series get a proper wave/thumbs up/ smile, cos they is suffering way more than me on my superior coil springy 110.

Wimmin seem to mostly drive them around here, they don't know what they are in.
Probably...
If you waved they wouldn't notice or would report you for stalking or something.

I always wave series / defenders / moded discos / range rovers (p38 or older) its only the farmers that are miserable bastards and don't return. some of my passengers takes the **** but just think they are jealous.

      • no wave
    • is it old?
      • wave
    • is it modded?
      • is it used?
        • wave
      • is it new?
        • no wave
but then we have to add.. are they waving first? how fast is the traffic? did i wave to them before and not get one back?

people are pretty wavey around here though and atm i'm trying to spot anyone who can tell where the best place to buy bits n bobs

I'll wave at any Defender that looks like it's got mods on it, such as snorkel winch chequerplate etc.
I find that farmers don't return a wave but their Land Rovers are usually standard.

The place where I go in Wales, I am starting to get acknowledgement from some of the farmers too. It's not so much a wave, more a couple of fingers lifted from the steering wheel.
