Hi! Any advice on replacing rear brake lines (pipes?) on a 1999 discovery td5.I live in Germany and the local mechanic can't seem to work it out how to thread the cable right through to the front. The old ones are very rusted. They are very long, over 2 meters. The old lines seem to dissapear into the body. That will not be possible to follow. Is there a trick we can try? Thank's in advance! Any tips appreciated asap!

The pipe from the rear passenger side (RHD) runs along the chassis until it meets a flexible hose inside the front wheel arch, I think the passenger side runs alongside it.
He might find it easier to get someone with feeding the pipe in whilst he routes it. Disconnect the ABS unit end first so there's no danger of syphoning it, and therefore having to bleed the modulator.

Hi! Thank you so much for this tip.I shall try to explain it to the German mechanic as clearly as possible. He doesn't speak a word of English! The ABS part is very important.I had no idea. Thanks again.

i usually make the long pipe that crosses over from lhs to rhs in 2 parts with a join ,located the lhs wheel arch

even if you empty the system it bleeds up simply enough, but just crimp both flexis in lhs wheel arch

just replace the section to the rear that is rusty with copper and a flared union set. the rest on the chassis rail should be fine. they usually only go at the back there where they are exposed to road grit/dirt.

cheaper and perfectly safe/legal
