I'm contemplating buying a egr blank, as I had noticed that my egr was still fitted, however the little pipe with a blue sheath was simply disconnected from it and tie strapped to one side, although not blocked. Does pulling that pipe off, no pun intended, disable the egr, should I still buy the mod or shall I pee off and use the search function again, which I gave up on last week. There are so many posts in the search results r.e egr, half of them very good reads and the other half replied to with 'use the search function'.
Don't reply 'use the search function' as that's what I'd say!!!
All the best
Mick ;-)

Have you tried reconnecting the pipe ?

Does the engine run ok as it is ?

yes ..

but fitting an egr delete unit will provide better airflow ..

block it off ..

Hi fellas, no I havent tried reconnecting as the car runs sweet as a nut as is, shall I have a go reconnecting it?
Would there be any change of damage to anything by it not being blocked off, I don't know how long it's been like that!
Think I'll go ahead and buy it then, but there's a few different ones about, around 30 quid on fleabay, shall I just buy any or is there someone affiliated with the forum who sells them?
Thanks for the help
Mick

grime might have been sucked in .. damaging the solenoid valve
( it Is a vacuum hose ) .. it could also compromise the vacuum system
if that solenoid valve is damaged .. and you reconnect it .. the the egr valve won't operate properly

the vacuum system operates :
the power assisted brakes .. i.e. brake servo
the turbocharger vane operating device ( which has a Filter attached for good reason )
the egr valve
~~~~~~
'allisport' make a good egr-delete unit ..
not cheap ..
but it won't rust as it's alloy ..
and has a lip so the attached hose won't slip off under pressure ..
High quality aircraft grade aluminium??? For 70 quid it wants to be gold plated and self fitting. Thinks I'll buy the stainless one off fleabay for £40.
Anyone fitted one of their intercoolers though? Now that I'd be interested in!
