Got my spare key done this week. Went to Timpsons who ordered one in and cut it for £12.00. Put the chip in and all good. Not bad considering it's over £100 (and I know its because you get a new chip) at dealers or spares specialist.

Nice one mate, I got mine cut at Keys In the Post, very simple and convenient :). £16 including the new blade.

When you say "Put the chip in and all good" do you take the chip out of the old key??

Just wondered as I am looking to add keys,,
as I only got the one key and one remote when we purchased the Freelander,,

Was quoted £230 for Key and Fob new & coded from the stealers...

You would defo have to purchase another key with chip from the dealers i'm afraid.....
I think B16d has had a new key cut and swapped his chip by the sounds of it....

The old spare key had the end broken off, so I got a new one cut from my good key (from the blank ordered in by Timpsons as they didn't have any Landy type in stock) and put the existing chip in the compartment in the new key, tried it and it worked fine. Now got two keys. I already had two fobs. I can understand if you loose a key and need a complete new chip programmed, that's when it becomes expensive. As I already had two chips I just needed the relevant key.
