Cheltenham Quarry

Hi all,

As some of you may know, (and may have used!) There is an old quarry just outside Cheltenham, Haggs Hill.

I know the owner of this site, and after a discussion with him the other day, he is considering gating it, and turning it into a pay and play.

His main issue is the amount of crap being dumped up there on a regular basis.

Police are starting to make regular visits, and are beginning to remove people without express perrmission to be on the site.

If anyone fancys a play, send me a PM first and i'll come up with you to avoid any conflict!

Thats just not on. The Police, of anybody, should know better. I suggest he has a word in their ear .

I've started taking stuff away with me, i just can't understand why people go 5 miles out of the way to dump a fridge, when there is a perfectly good recycling centre in the middle of cheltenham!

Hi ya I am interested in goin to the Cheltenham quarry on Sunday 27th of this month and I happened to notice you know the owner of the land.
It's my first day offroading as I've just bought a landrover 90 and would love to learn to drive it off-road. If you have a post code for the place that would help alot aswell please and I'm driving up from Bromsgrove and don't know the area very well.

Do you know if the owner has turned it into a pay and play? Its not that far from me, only about 28 miles, just wondering if its usable?

hi i was wondering if wether you no if you are aloud to use remote controlled cars up there as i need a new place to unleash my rc car and it sounds like the ideal place

Norledge, do you know what the score is with Haggs Hill now? I'm interested in heading over one weekend as I'm near Chipping Camden. Do you have the contact details of the guy i'd need to speak to?

What're conditions like this time of tyre? My D2 td5 pretty much standard at the moment, bar the rear suspension is now sprung as opposed to air bags. Tyre wise, I'm looking at getting some rims with full M/T tread, at the moment we just have Avon Ranger (70/30 road/off road).

Accepted your request grim, get in touch and am around this weekend if you want to go and play on Aggs. Last time I was up there a few weeks ago it was really dry but I suspect with the rain we have had recently that the mud pools will be filling up nicely. I have a B reg 90 which is standard height but with insa turbos. I used to go up there with a set of ATs when I first started and you can do some of it but you need a MT or full on off road tyre to do all of it. If you are with me then I can drag you out if things get messy. I guess the real issue will be ground clearance - I am using 31" tyres and get around most things but if you had smaller tyres then you might struggle on some bits grounding out.

What day are you thinking of going over, and what time? This weekend is starting to look fairly busy, but depending on how dry or wet it is, I'm hoping to find a bit of spare time.

If i can't do this weekend, I'll most certainly be up for it other weekends (possibly fairly regularly too).

Picking up another landy this weekend but another time I'd like to check it out if you guys can cope with an old leafer showing up up

I'm certainly happy to do other weekends. Ideally i want to at least get a second set of rims with bigger M/T tyres on, but if its not too wet and muddy, I'm all for it........so long as the wife lets me!!! lol

BB - I would love to meet you so it would be great for you to come along anytime you want. I used to go up there with a guy who had a series and he went anywhere I could!

Grim - I am flexible this weekend (although I have not yet had the "chat" with my boss about what is expected of me!!) the only bad time is Sunday morning as my lad plays rugby and I help out.

I going to probably go up on Saturday afternoon if you want to go, I will PM you and BB my mobile number and just ping me a text.

Grim - I rarely spend more than an hour at Aggs so it can be done in whatever time you have free - go on....you know you want too!!!

I sent you my mobile number via PM so ping me. I think I might be headed to Foxham 4x4 pay and play tomorrow morning. Its just south of the M4 I think the postcode is SN15 4NL which gets you near enough to see signs or muddy marks on the road!! You have to pay for Foxham.

alright bud, is he thinking of turning it into pay n play or just a few having a couple of hours ride round im interested in a play if thats ok
