Leaking Sunroof

Out of curiosity to what extent do yours leak? Mine started with a few drips via the button on the roof handle. This morning it was pouring from the interior light and headlining making its way down the dashboard, headunit and switches, not forgetting to mention the centre console. For a minute I thought I was driving a convertable with the roof down!

From the thread I guess my sunroof frame is the main cause of this. Will be hard to sort due to the bloody weather! Might be getting the tank tape out tonight and waiting for a dry day..................yea right!

stamford, mine started leaking out of the seatbelts like a mini waterfall. Then i had as you, pouring out of the front interior light onto the dashboard but the last time, i had it from as per mentioned and also the rear interior light and electrics. That was alot of water  Interestingly mine leaks worse when the vehicle is parked on a slope nose up. With all the rain we have had recently and parked flat on the drive it doesn't suffer much at all other than maybe a bit from the seatbelts. 2 things i have done so far: seal the outside edge of the sunroof to the roof and remove the front sunroof to add glue to the corner parts but water is still getting in. Next i will be removing the whole roof liner and try to see where the water is actually coming in from.

Hells bells Kev they certainly do have issues don't they! I cleaned the roof off last night, froze me gonads off too, then sealed the whole roof frame and glass joints with tank tape. Looks okay as it is discreet, good job it's a dark colour! I'll be leaving this until we have another downpour, then leave it completey alone if okay, and do this properly when the weather improves...............probably Easter!

Well the black tank tape I used has done the trick, very heavy rain yesterday, much worse than the day previous to the flood and all's good! :D

A very discreet job done, that'll be left well alone until well after xmas!

I am new to LR Zone but have a Discovery leak problem like so many others! Although the water appears by the interior light console and sometimes by the sunroof handle, there is not apparent damage to the rubber seal around the sunroof. The only place I can see where water might b seeping in is where the LHS roof rail joins the roof. There is a rubber 'seat' which the rail sits on and it may not be water tight. I wondered if others had found this a contrubutory factor? I am going to put some sillicone around the four of them and take it from there. Any thoughts . Thanks

In my experience it's far more likely to be the sun roof that's leaking than the rails, have a look at this link. Once the water has got in it seems to find its way out of any gap including the interior lights.

HTH

I tried the duck tape cure, round both sunroofs, both Alpine windows, the windscreen and around the 4 mounting bits for the 2 rails. I still got my morning shower.
