Ive had the propshaft taken off i was advised to check the IRD for any play,there is about a millimetre of play is this acceptable or not.This is from trying to turn it.

My freelander 1 TD4 has developed a whine when i push the clutch pedal down, but soon as i release it the whine disappears,any idea what this could be. It cant be the propshaft as its been removed.

I have had the propshaft removed VCU done 90000 miles rumbling noise under middle of vehicle so presumed VCU.Now quite without propshaft drives alot more responsive.If the IRD was damaged would it show now its in 2 wheeled drive or not.

I have had my propshaft removed on my freelander 1 i will be sending my VCU to Bell engineering, problem is i cannot remove the support bearings will they remove them as i have read you need a special tool to do this.

Removed because of whining noise underneath and the prospect of damage to the IRD or Differential possibly VCU knackered .

Have got them and some rear diff mounts have fetched Freelander 1 with propshaft removed drives now with no noise underneath and drives quite well.Is there anyway to tell if the IRD is in reasonable condition.

I have been looking for a diif seal on the internet some advertise two seals some just one seal how many do i require.

No new tyres fitted ,the oil is just a mist i suppose not really a leak.i will have to ask the garage to test the VCU.

My freelander 1 has done 90000 miles and it has become noisy underneath i am going to ask my local garage to remove the propshaft, bear with me because i am not that mechanically minded,the rear diff seems to be leaking would i still need to have this fixed with a new seal and oil after taking...
